Last summer, I visited the newest addition to Universal Orlando Resort’s pantheon of parks: Epic Universe. The brand-new destination has been lauded for its wide variety of high-quality dining options, many of which I sampled during my trip. (I still think about the Mac & Cheese Cones from the Isle of Berk.) Since my trip was less than two months after the park opened, I got to experience plenty of “day one” menu options… meaning I’ve been seething with jealousy every time I see a new menu item cross my feed.

Case in point, a brand-new dessert option has just opened up in my favorite part of Epic Universe. Celestial Park serves as the entrance and central hub, branching out to the “spokes” that focus on franchises such as Super Mario and How to Train Your Dragon. This cosmic-themed area has garnered widespread acclaim for its dining options, including the crowd-pleasing Pizza Moon and the upscale Atlantic Restaurant.

In addition to the dessert options at every sit-down restaurant, there are a few standalone dessert shops scattered around Celestial Park (plus the expansive Moonship Chocolates & Celestial Sweets store, which offers a mix of treats and merchandise inspired by the titular Moonship’s crew). As of this week, Satellite Shakes is joining the ranks of Epic Universe’s decadent offerings–even if you’d struggle to find it at first glance.

How is this new milkshake shop hidden inside Celestial Park?

Meteor Astropub has been delivering burgers, salads, and more to their indoor seating area or right out of a pick-up window since opening day. As of now, the latter option has been struck in favor of something sweeter. That pick-up window, just a few steps from the restaurant’s entrance, is now exclusively slinging Satellite Shakes. (I expect they share a prep area, but I won’t speak to internal mechanisms.) There isn’t even any Satellite Shakes signage near the window as of this writing! I’m sure signage and branding for the intergalactic milkshakery will come with time; we may be witnessing a soft launch so they can identify and address the pain points of offering an entirely new menu out of a very small footprint.

What are the three milkshakes available at Satellite Shakes?

Straight from Universal Orlando Resort’s website, here’s the opening lineup of Satellite Shakes’ titular treats:

  • Captain Cacao’s Starlight Voyage: chocolate shake layered with rich ganache, marshmallows, blackberry syrup and praline crunch, finished with chocolate whipped topping, blue starlight ribbon and Captain Cacao’s signature hat
  • Astronomer’s Strawberry Shortcake: strawberry shortcake shake with sweet crumble and bright strawberry ribbon, finished with whipped topping and Pop Rocks
  • Stargazer Cookie Butter: vanilla bean shake layered with Biscoff cookie butter and buttery crumble, finished with celestial-themed sprinkles and whipped topping
