After being heavily inspired by the trend on TikTok to add tea bags to bottles of Sprite, Sprite has introduced their own, official version: Sprite + Tea! This lemon-lime and tea flavored soda comes in both full sugar and zero sugar versions in both cans and bottles (for a limited time). Sprite was kind enough to send over samples of their full sugar version, so let’s pop it open and find out if Sprite has recreated the trend well or if it should have stayed on TikTok!
Pros: This almost has an Arnold Palmer-like vibe. The blend of tea (black tea, not green tea) and Sprite is honestly perfectly balanced. I am traditionally not a huge fan of tea and tea-adjacent products, so my biggest fear going into this taste test was that this new Sprite flavor would be 80% tea and 20% Sprite. I am happy to report that this is very much not the case. This is a very pleasant summertime drink—but I’d even go as far to say that I’d like to see it year round. The classic Sprite flavor lends itself very well to the flavor of tea and I’d love to see Sprite try different tea flavors and make a line of Sprite + Tea drinks.
Cons: This label is one of the ugliest designs I have ever seen (especially when compared to what was shown at NACS last year). Also, as weird of a complaint as this probably is, I almost wish the soda was sweeter. It’s still very tasty, but it’s missing that extra element of a nice sweet tea.
