Sprite + Tea Zero Sugar Is Better Than the Original (But That’s Not Saying Much)

Today, I’ve got my hands on one of the rarest “widely released” modern sodas I can recall: Sprite + Tea Zero Sugar. For the uninitiated, this is the zero sugar variant of the new Sprite flavor based on the TikTok trend of brewing tea with Sprite instead of water. Are the kids alright? Anyway, we’ve got a rare soda to review.

What do you mean by “rare” soda?

Y’all, I didn’t think this soda existed. All the official press releases mentioned a zero sugar variant (exclusive to 12-packs of cans, for some reason), but I never saw this version of the Sprite flavor in person or anywhere online!

This soda launched in May and it took me two months and a flight to Orlando to find it in a grocery store. So, right in the middle of my vacation, I dutifully messaged the boss to see whether we should review this elusive zero sugar variant. You can probably guess what answer I got.

Here’s the long-awaited review of Sprite + Tea Zero Sugar.

New Sprite Zero Review!

Sprite + Tea Zero Sugar Review

Pros: There’s something about this flavor combination that works better in zero sugar for me. Maybe the lack of sugar helps get the “iced tea” flavor across? I would rather drink this variant than the full sugar version; it’s a shame I had to take a big expensive vacation to find it.

Cons: It’s still weird. I don’t think we needed this soda to be made. It’s extra tragic because “Sprite Lemon+” was a caffeinated Sprite variant released in other countries, and I have a feeling Sprite + Tea has permanently killed the potential of that variant coming to the states.

How much longer will I be able to get Sprite + Tea?

Per a few official statements, Sprite + Tea should be available wherever Sprite is sold through mid-October. That being said, if it sells out early, Coca-Cola isn’t going to rush another production run. They need that shelf space for other Sprite variants—like Sprite Winter Spiced Cranberry or Vanilla Frost! I would rather they focus on getting Coca-Cola Holiday Vanilla Cream onto shelves early than keeping Sprite + Tea on shelves a second longer than necessary.
