Remember when Taco Bell discontinued the Mexican Pizza in 2020? People were furious. It was probably the worst thing to happen in 2020. Thankfully, they brought it back in 2022 (thanks, in part, to Doja Cat), and now they’re tripling down on their Mexican Pizza offerings with two new Mexican Pizzas and a new Mexican Pizza-inspired item.

Here are the new Mexican Pizzas coming to a Taco Bell near you:

Cantina Chicken Mexican Pizza with Jalapeño Citrus Salsa

Way back in 2017, Taco Bell tested out a Mexican Crispy Chicken PIzza in the Columbus, Ohio area. Essentially a crispy tortilla topped with a big, flat, round fried chicken patty with nacho cheese sauce, Mexican Pizza sauce, shredded cheese, and pico de gallo, it must not have been much of a success because we didn’t see it outside of Ohio. This chicken Mexican Pizza is different, though. Instead of fried chicken, it’s made with slow-roasted chicken and black beans, which are layered between two crispy tortillas, and topped with green chile sauce, shredded cheese, cabbage, and pico de gallo. It also comes with Jalapeno Citrus Salsa (also new!) and Avocado Verde Salsa.

Strawberry & Cream Mexican Pizza Bite

For the first time ever, Taco Bell is offering a sweet Mexican Pizza. This mini pizza (which the brand is referring to as a tostada) comes topped with cheesecake filling, chopped strawberries with cinnamon and sugar, and white chocolate shavings. Admit it: If you saw this on a fancy restaurant menu you’d order it.

Mexican Pizza Empanada

One of multiple new empanadas on Taco Bell’s menu, this is essentially a Mexican Calzone. Each bite-sized empanada is filled with melted cheese, seasoned beef, and a “bold and flavorful sauce,” along with Mexican Pizza sauce on the side. How is the “bold and flavorful sauce” different from Mexican Pizza sauce? We’ll definitely find out and report back, because we’re ordering these ASAP.

Hi! I’m the editor-in-chief of Sporked. I will never turn down a fresh-shucked oyster but I’ll also leap at whatever new product Reese’s releases and I love a Tostitos Hint of Lime, even if there is no actual lime in the ingredients. Why you should trust me: I have been writing about food and beverages for well over a decade and am an avid at-home cook and snacker. I began my career writing about fine dining and recipes, moved into cocktails and spirits, and now I talk about groceries. If you can eat it or drink it, I’ve probably written about it. What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s dried okra. Appleton Farms prosciutto from Aldi. Some sort of Trader Joe’s cheese (I’m into the aged gouda at the moment). Frozen waffles (usually the Eggo Cinnamon Toast Minis). Spindrift water (loving the Cosmopolitan right now). Favorite ranking: Smoked salmon. Imagine me as Scrooge McDuck but instead of coins I’m diving into a vault of slippery smoked salmon slices. Pure joy. I also found some real steals in that taste test! Least favorite ranking: Canned oysters. I had such high hopes for this but it quickly became a chore. The kitchen smelled like an uncleaned aquarium.
