Ah, breakfast. The most important meal of the day (or at least that’s the message Big Breakfast has been drilling into our heads our whole lives). After a long slumber there’s nothing better than filling your belly with fuel to help you conquer the day ahead. Unfortunately, not everyone has the time to prepare themselves a big meal that checks off all the necessary food groups (or at least all the necessary flavor groups), which is where on-the-go breakfasts come into play.

Luckily, nearly all fast food chains have a tasty answer to the question “What’s for breakfast?” But not all fast food breakfast sandwiches are created equal. Some make mornings all the more delicious, while others might leave you keeled over in the restroom for the first hour of the workday. However, if you stick to the sandwiches on this list, mornings might just become your favorite time of day.

Chick-fil-A: Chicken, Egg, And Cheese On A Biscuit

Chicken? For breakfast? If that’s your thing, head to Chick-fil-A for the chicken, egg, and cheese biscuit sandwich. Anyone who’s had Chick-fil-A before knows the chicken is super juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside and this sandwich brings the best of those worlds to breakfast. The egg is fluffy, the cheese is melted and gooey, and the biscuit lends a buttery, flaky bite to the whole thing.

Taco Bell: Breakfast Bacon Crunchwrap

If you’re a Taco Bell-head who loves the iconic Crunchwrap, allow yourself to be blessed by the breakfast version of this Taco Bell staple. Layered with ingredients just like the original Crunchwrap, the morning meal is stuffed with fluffy scrambled eggs, a boatload of melty cheese, crispy bacon, and the star of the whole show: a golden, crunchy hashbrown—you wouldn’t guess it, but The Bell’s potatoes are some of the best in the fast food breakfast game. Go figure.

Wendy’s: Sausage, Egg, And Cheese On A Biscuit

You might take one look at Wendy’s sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit sandwich and think, “Meh, looks pretty standard.” However, I assure you it will surpass your expectations. The first thing you notice when you take a bite is how buttery and soft the biscuit feels. This fluffy texture is the encore to the rest of the ingredients, which all work in harmony together. The egg isn’t scrambled—it’s fried—which is a nice extra touch most chains don’t offer. The cheese is perfectly gooey and the sausage patty has a savory, peppery flavor that rounds out the whole experience with a bang.

Burger King: Fully Loaded Croissan’wich

Burger King has really stepped up their game lately. The proof is in this BK behemoth, which is not for those who want to casually nibble on breakfast. This sandwich is a looming tower of ingredients. You don’t get one or even two breakfast meats with this thing. No, Burger King wallops you with three different breakfast meats: thin-sliced Black Forest ham, a sausage patty, and thick-cut bacon. Plus, BK’s croissants are always light and fluffy.

McDonald’s: Sausage, Egg, And Cheese McGriddle

Mickey D’s, of course, makes it to the top of this list of breakfast sandwiches and it’s all thanks to the McGriddle. Forget bagels, biscuits, and croissants—McDonald’s scoffs in their direction to give customers maple-infused pancake buns that really help offset the sometimes overwhelming savory flavors of breakfast meats. The sausage, egg, and cheese McGriddle is everything you want when sweet-and-savory comes calling. Fluffy egg, gooey cheese, and a juicy sausage patty all receive a sweet lift from the pillowy pancake buns.
