The Wendy’s Reddit Hack We Can Get Behind

“Evil doesn’t die, it reinvents itself.” Most of us might be familiar with the McDonald’s hack that fuses two sandwiches off their iconic Dollar Menu. To use a phrase I swore I would never use: IYKYK.

If you know you know. It’s an incredibly pretentious phrase in my eyes―its only use is to gatekeep. Well, not today. We’re taking back ownership of the phrase! And we’re here to mourn the loss of the fast food hack that got me through high school and instead rejoice in its reincarnated version that’s taking shape at Wendy’s.

The Mysterious Sandwich, Explained

Sorry, I was unintentionally being gatekeepy back there. The aforementioned sandwich was crafted at McDonald’s in the beloved age of the Dollar Menu. Made by splitting a McDouble down the middle and throwing a McChicken inside, this was the first secret menu item I ever encountered. Sadly though, the downfall of McDonald’s Dollar Menu sucked all the magic out of said sandwich.

Wendy’s Might Be Our Savior!

One genius Redditor recently posted to showcase their Wendy’s creation. Since we can’t order off the Dollar Menu anymore, this sandwich has been reimagined―crafted straight off of Wendy’s Everyday Value Menu! Unfortunately, we’re not getting those Dollar Menu prices. Ordering the required crispy chicken sandwich and double stack cheeseburger will set you back a painful $7.50. Yikes! Oh, what we sacrifice in the pursuit of greatness.

The recipe from here is the same as it’s always been. Split those burger patties down the middle, toss the chicken in (bun and all), then get ready to unhinge your jaw for that first bite. You can choose to mix and match toppings to your liking. Though I will warn, the more condiments you put on the more slippery the whole situation will get. That’s a touchy subject considering all the patties we have to align.

Now All It Needs Is A Name…

Sadly, we can’t call it anything like we used to―IYKYK. One Redditor suggested calling it the “Dave’s Cluck Deluxe,” which is a safe but catchy choice. Another chimed in and suggested to “name it after the cardiologist you meet in the ER.” A valid critique considering the McDonald’s version actually had me clutching my chest at the age of 16. Maybe I’ll sit this one out, but you all should have a fun time with it for my sake.
