After countless taste tests and food reviews, we here at Sporked nary want to branch out and try new foods come the end of the workday. That’s why, when we do happen to try something new and it actually impresses us, we know that we have to share it with our dear readers. You see, we try simply too much food each week. And these are the top three items we think you should be buying because they have simply impressed us that much.

Trader Joe’s Fall Harvest Salsa

I’ll be the first to admit I am a die-hard jarred salsa fan. I love a fresh salsa, but only if it’s actually fresh. If it’s fresh, packaged, and sold in the refrigerated section of a grocery store, it just loses some of its appeal. By the time you get it, it’s usually just lacking something that makes a fresh salsa great. But jarred salsa has never failed me. And, it’s distinctly nostalgic. But as the seasons begin to turn, and we start adding just the most minimal fall items into our diet, we decided to pick up a jar of one of our favorite fall products from last year. Oh boy, did it not disappoint this year either. It really doesn’t taste very fall forward except for an extra layer of depth and an earthy, caramel-y savory note from the squash and pumpkin seeds. It means anything to you, we’re already on our second jar.

Whole Foods Market Berry Chantilly Cake Slice

Everyone knows the Whole Foods Berry Chantilly cake. We know her, we love her, she is a grocery store classic we can always depend on for last minute celebrations. Sometimes we don’t need a whole cake sitting in our fridge though, and yet we still have a craving for that same taste. Well, we didn’t know that it came in cake slices, but now that we do we’re probably going to be making a weekly trip to Whole Foods to satisfy a late night craving for its sweet, but not too sweet taste. This cake simply tastes fresh. And when it comes to grocery store cakes, that can’t always be said. But it’s exactly what keeps keeps us coming back to this cake… and now to the cake slices too.

Trader Joe’s Butternut Squash Mac & Cheese

All right now, we’re not gonna act like we discovered anything new in realizing that this is a good product. Everyone knows it’s a good product, and that’s why it’s usually completely sold out on shelves. Just this week we spotted it in the frozen section of our local Trader Joe’s and knew we’d have to give a bit of a PSA. Not only is it back, but it has that same great flavor and texture that we all count on this time of year. It’s better than a frozen mac & cheese should be and the fact that it has that little touch of fall flavor makes it all the better.
