As food writers, our main job is to let you know what’s going on that’s new in the food space, the trends we’ve been seeing, and whether or not the new products on the market are worth our dear readers trying out for themselves. But for just one article each week, we get to hop on here and let you all know about something a little bit more personal to our tastes as food writers.

You see, we taste a lot of food. It’s literally your job. So when something stands out to us from all the things we’ve eaten, we get a real joy in being able to share those stand-out items with you folk independently of any taste test or review.
This week has marked the official beginning of autumn, so we’ve definitely been trying out some more seasonal products this week. And three things in particular have stood out to us as must-share items with our readers. These are the three best things we ate this week, and we think you should add them to your next grocery haul, too.
Trader Joe’s Apple Vinaigrette Dressing
We didn’t expect much from a grocery store vinaigrette. We thought apple vinaigrette in particular would be underwhelming. But we should know by now that Trader Joe’s, the champion of fall, wouldn’t let us down like that. This dressing is particularly impressive because of the strong, natural apple flavor that comes through in every bite.
Even when used to dress something stronger and heartier like kale, you can really taste the bright, fresh, and sweet apple and vinegar tones in each bite. To be honest, we didn’t want to like this one as much as we did, because we know it’s a seasonal item. As it turns out, we’re just gonna have to stock up while we still can.
Clio Raspberry Dark Chocolate Covered Mini Greek Yogurt Bars
Breaking up some of our more seasonal favorites are these Clio yogurt bars. These bars have been on the market for quite some time now, but the price tag was honestly what has kept us away up until this point. Considering their size and the overall value you get in each package, we couldn’t understand what the fuss was all about. Turns out, these have been our absolute favorite sweet snack throughout this past week.
The texture of the yogurt itself in these bars is soft and creamy, yet firm enough to properly bit. Plus the dark chocolate shell on these makes it feel like you’re eating a Klondike bar. But, dare I say it, we’d take this over a Klondike bar any day. That’s really saying something too, because we absolutely adore Klondike bars.
But even just writing this little blurb now is physically making my mouth water from thinking of the absolutely perfect combination of the bright, sweet, and tangy flavor of the raspberry yogurt and the chocolate altogether. These are gonna be on heavy rotation for some time for us. We just know it.
Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Brioche Twist
It’s like we said folks, Trader Joe’s just does fall right. While we don’t necessarily love that every single thing in their store seems to be pumpkin flavored, you have still got to give credit where credit is due. And this particular pumpkin spice item is out-of-this-world delicious.
The brioche itself definitely leans toward the sweeter side of brioche, but considering it’s a pumpkin-spiced brioche with cinnamon sugar filling, it’s what we expected. That said, it is remarkably tender, fluffy, and packed with delicate pumpkin spice flavor. The pumpkin spice used in this loaf taste very natural, and at no point do you get any of those artificial candle-like notes we so often see in autumnal goods.
We see ourselves purchasing this again and again throughout the season for the most delectable bread puddings and French toasts possible. Even a slice of this on its own is more more satisfying than we could’ve expected.
