This Fall-Inspired Brioche Will Have You Running To Aldi

There’s kind of this unspoken rule about Aldi that you’re probably never going to leave with exactly what you came in for. And I suppose that actually applies to quite a few grocery stores, but shopping at Aldi is on a whole other level. From the home goods section that draws you in like a magnet until you’ve inevitable purchased some kind of organizer that you swear you have a use for to the unfortunate realization that they’ve all of a sudden stopped carrying your favorite kind of pickle (horseradish pickles, you will forever be missed), there’s no guarantee that you’ll leave with what you need or even be able to find it anymore. And for those of us in the United States, the discontinuation of an Aldi product usually means that all hope is lost in trying to source it from somewhere else.

These overall inconsistencies and lack of guarantee are part of the Aldi charm — after all, you can’t get prices that good without a little sacrifice. This Aldi “charm” is also what makes the return of one fan-favorite seasonal item so exciting. Without ever knowing if we would see this product return to shelves, we waited in eager anticipation to see if the Specially Selected Apple Cinnamon Brioche Ring would return. Finally, we can lay our worries to bed and enjoy this European autumn treasure.

For Once It’s Not Pumpkin

This month has seen quite a few fall drops already, and there are plenty more to come. From a butternut squash mac and cheese that rivals the iconic fall mac from Trader Joe’s to a variety of fall cookies, there’s already a lot to shop. But there’s none we’re quite as excited for as this Specially Selected Apple Cinnamon Brioche Ring.

For us, the biggest encouraging factor for us to shop this returning favorite is the fact that it simply isn’t pumpkin. And, it’s not just apple and cinnamon flavored, it has actual pieces of apple and real cinnamon in it. But the option to have a break from the pumpkin fatigue is welcomed with open arms, especially when it allows us to still feel the fall spirit in each bite.

Here’s the thing about these rolls, they’re made with Aldi’s beloved French-imported brioche. And, Aldi shoppers are ride-or-die for their seasonal brioche in particular. Basically what we’re trying to get at is that these might not be as easy to come by as swinging by your local Aldi at your leisure. If you’re looking to try these out (or are returning shoppers like us) then you’re going to have to rush to stores. Even a Reddit post from two years ago emphasized the craze around these rolls saying, “The day they dropped, I went at 3 pm and there were only two left on the shelf.” It’s time to make an Aldi run, asap.
