Trader Joe’s gummy game is strong. Scandinavian Swimmers? Classic. The little fruit slices? Vibrant. Those seasonal mini carrot and pea gummies? Incredible. So TJ fans take notice when everyone’s favorite twee supermarket chain drops a new gummy candy into our laps. And that goes double for their newest addition: Sour Mushroom Shaped Gummy Candies. Sure, the name leaves a little to be desired, but the form factor? ADORABLE.

What are Trader Joe’s Sour Mushroom Shaped Gummy Candies?
If you grew up tending a fairy garden or watching David the Gnome or always wanted to eat a Super Mario mushroom, then you are going to be absolutely enchanted by these new gummy candies.
As the name implies or, rather, directly states, these are mushroom-shaped gummies. They’re opaque pink and white gummies complete with stems and caps. They’re sweet and sour, dusted with sour sugar, which Trader Joe’s likens to pixie dust. Cute.
And just in case you were wondering, no, these are not functional mushroom gummies. They aren’t made with lion’s mane mushrooms to help your memory. Nor are they made with magic mushrooms to help your perception of the universe. These are purely candy for candy’s sake.
What do these mushroom gummies taste like?
Trader Joe’s describes them as having an apple-y flavor profile, though some Redditors describe them as being more citrusy, while Instagrammer @traderjoesobsessed wrote that they taste like cherry or strawberry. Everyone who has tried them agrees that they are quite sour—more sour than TJ’s Sour Strawberry Belts. Early tasters also describe the texture as being on the firmer side of the Trader Joe’s gummy spectrum. They’re firmer than Scandinavian Swimmers, comparable to TJ’s gummy turtles.
What else?
The new mushroom gummies are colored with fruity and vegetable juice, without any artificial coloring or flavoring. They do contain both wheat and gelatin, though, so they’re not for everyone. You can snag a bag for $2.29 for a limited time.
