Our Honest Review of Vlasic Pickle Balls

Late last year we got the news that no one saw coming: Vlasic had plans to release Pickle Balls (not those pickle balls—edible dill pickle-flavored corn puffs). Now, after months and months of hunting, I’ve finally tracked them down at my local Speedway. So, it’s time to decide if these are worth the hype or if snack companies should just stick to putting cheese powder on corn puff snacks.

New Pickle Balls!

Vlasic Pickle Balls

Pros: Upon opening the bag you’re hit with a very accurate smell of pickles. And I’ve got to hand it to the folks at Vlasic, I think the pickle flavor is also very well represented in these corn puffs. Neither the dill nor vinegar are crazy overpowering. And they’ve got a very satisfying crunch. Compared to other snacks that claim to be pickle flavored, these do a much better job.

Cons: When I see corn puffs, I want them to be cheesy. I don’t even know that cheese and pickles would work well together, but there’s just something about eating round corn puffs that aren’t cheese flavored that sort of feels like it could be illegal. And, I’ll be honest, the green color of the Pickle Balls is a little bit off-putting, too.

If you are a fan of pickle flavored snacks, these Pickle Balls are definitely worth a try. But I don’t think they’re a repeat buy for me.
