Costco has come out with the greatest fall addition to their food court we could possibly imagine. They’ve gone and added a whole apple pie to their soft serve. Well, the makings of an apple pie. It’d be quite the feat to add in a whole Costco-sized apple pie into one dessert. Sadly we’re just getting a little taste of what wonder there is to find once you walk past the food court and start the actual shopping. Let’s get into our review of the new Costco food court apple pie sundae.

Costco’s Apple Pie Sundae
Pros: Inside Costco’s apple pie sundae, you’ll find soft serve (no duh) that’s sandwiched in between a scoop of apple pie filling and bits of pie crust. This means that there’s added texture compared to the usual serving of soft serve―an overall huge win for my fellow texture enthusiasts out there.
The apples in the apple pie filling are cooked to perfection. They’re softened up, but they still have a bit of bite to them so even they add in some more beautiful texture. Costco also puts in a good amount of apple pie filling into the cup so while you do have to be careful to pick past it a bit to get to all the soft serve, you can get a little bit of filling into each bite.
Cons: Overall, this is just a bit flat. All the flavors feel so muted―which makes sense considering 80% of the sundae is vanilla soft serve. That said, the bits of pie filling and crust aren’t doing any favors to the experience.
While I appreciated the pie crust being there, they’re in such big chunks that you’re just delivered blasts of “generic dough” flavor every so often. The apple pie filling fittingly tastes like apple, but I wish they would have added a heavy serving of spices to go with it.
This last con is very much not on Costco. I understand they’re running an operation and bringing in a full machine to mix up my sundae is not on the table. That being said, the resulting wall of vanilla soft serve that comes between all the apple pie filling that brings any actual flavor to the sundae is a lot to get through. I would absolutely love to see this thing blended up a bit or at the very least, a few more layers of filling added into the cup. I know that day will never come, but I’m just spit-balling solutions here.
