People wait all over the world for the release of Starbucks yearly pumpkin spice launch. The PSL is something that will forever go down in concert conversation with Starbucks brand in general. But, this year, they decided to once again expand what they’re capable of doing with the pumpkin spice flavor and release another new pumpkin spice drink. This year’s new drink is one we’re extra excited about, though.

The fall drink they’re releasing with the return of pumpkin spice season is a variation on one of the best Starbucks drinks they have. The Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso is hands-down one of the most impressive drinks that Starbucks has released in a long time. The brown sugar and slight cinnamon flavor really allow the espresso flavor to shine, without overwhelming it. And, the perfect blend of strong espresso flavor and creaminess is far less milky and diluted than a latte, too.

The Pumpkin Cream Shaken Espresso that they are releasing on the fall menu takes the same ratio and method of making the classic shaken espresso drink and shakes it with brown sugar and cinnamon, the same way that the original is made. However, it is made with a delectably fall inspired pumpkin cold foam to spice it up. With the original version of this drink being one of our absolute Starbucks favorites, we knew we’d have to try out this one and see how it holds up. Here’s what we think.

An Extra Sweet Pumpkin Treat

Let’s not beat around the bush or anything, if you like cold foam and if you like pumpkin spice, then this can be one of the better drinks you have come out of Starbucks in a long time for you. It is so easily sippable and drinks in a much more balanced way than in the previous launch of their pumpkin cream cold brew. I mean, anything with the base of the brown sugar shaken espresso was bound to be good, but the natural pairing between the realistic spice flavor in the pumpkin cream and nutty caramel-ish flavor of the shaken espresso was bound to be an absolutely perfect pairing.

One thing I would say is that if you are planning on getting this seasonal drink for your morning cup of joe, you might want to order a bigger size because the volume of cold foam used in this drink left us with less coffee than we are expecting. So, it’s not really so much bad thing is it is a recommendation to size up for your next cuppa. But the inclusion of the pumpkin spice flavor exclusively in the cold foam really prevented it from tasting too overwhelmingly pumpkin-y. This is certain to be our new favorite seasonal sip.
