Perhaps an even more exciting time at Trader Joe’s than seeing your favorite seasonal products return to shelves is them moment when a new seasonal product gets added to that collection and really takes your breath away. Unfortunately, that does ultimately require a lot of trial and error to discover. Not everything is going to be your new seasonal favorite, and that’s exactly why we at Sporked are here.

We do the work so that you can try new products with confidence without as much of a risk. We don’t want you wasting your money every time the new season product comes out, so we like to try it first and let you know how they hold up. And since the Sparkling Apple Elderflower Juice came to Trader Joe’s earlier this week, it has certainly gotten enough hype around it where we thought it’d be worth trying. So without further ado, this is our official Sporked review.

Our Official Thoughts

Pros — If ever anyone was looking for the perfect non-alcoholic drink to serve, I will always point them in the direction of Trader Joe’s. From fabulously flavored sparkling waters to celebratory drinks that still fit the festive part, Trader Joe’s is doing non-alcoholic drinks exceptionally well. Whether they’re for the underaged at your festive gatherings or just for anyone who’s not looking to partake, this Sparkling Apple and Elderflower Juice is a stellar example of a great drink to have on hand during the holiday season this year.

You pop the cork just as you would a bottle of champagne, and the bubbles are delicate yet effervescent like all of the best sparkling beverages. And, we were worried that it would come off as far too sweet of a drink, but it actually ended up being quite well balanced. It is tart, bright, and a tad herbal from the elderflower and an overall great addition to the Trader Joe’s lineup.

Con — If you, like a lot of Americans, are less familiar with the popular European flavor of elderflower, then I honestly think it might be worth skipping over this drink and choosing one of the more intrinsically autumnal drinks this festive season. Elderflower is, well, floral. And quite aggressively so. It almost tastes like an effervescent perfume has been incorporated into the apple juice, and it is intensely aromatic. But, if you do feel adventurous and would like a brighter and more light alternative to some of the traditional autumn drinks, then this would be one we certainly recommend.
