The creative confectioners of the world are back in the lab and they’re cooking up a new product to rival Dubai chocolate. The food industry is all about trying to capture lightning in a bottle by being at the forefront of the latest craze. Lindt has taken to the kitchen to try to capture the fleeting Dubai chocolate market with Tokyo Style chocolate.

What is “Tokyo Style” Chocolate?
As my colleague Griffin Parker recently wrote, “Tokyo Style” describes a combination of strawberry and matcha. Specifically, Lindt has created a new chocolate bar that mixes white chocolate with matcha to form the outer “shell.” That shell is filled with an almond-matcha core containing pieces of real strawberry and roasted genmai (brown rice). So seemingly, getting specific about it, Tokyo Style chocolate is white chocolate with a mix of strawberry and green tea flavors.
So what are the applications of Tokyo Style chocolate?
Naturally, as the creators of Tokyo Style chocolate, Lindt has taken the initial direction with the flavor. They’re selling it in that chocolate bar form but the kicker is, they’re not selling it in many places just yet. As of now, it’s only available in Germany and their flagship stores in Vienna and London. Surely it’ll make its way over to the States soon but in the meantime, that means we get to start cooking up other versions to run with.
If the Dubai chocolate of it all is anything to go off of, the limitations for Tokyo Style chocolate do not exist. Look forward to Tokyo Style chocolate bars, lattes, milkshakes, and pastries! If I myself were in the Dubai chocolate business, I’d just start swapping out kadayif and pistachio in my recipes with strawberry and matcha to start conquering the market at the ground level!
