I love banana pudding. I know that’s intense, but it’s one of my core dessert beliefs—right next to “sugar cookies are better than chocolate chip.” I’ve referenced this childhood favorite of mine in many past articles, pondering which new Chessmen cookie would make the best topping and begging Dolly Parton to release one, just to name a few. This makes me perhaps the least biased person to review Nothing Bundt Cakes’ Banana Pudding Cake, but here I am nonetheless. Let’s draw an obvious conclusion.

Pros: You’ve heard “just like grandma used to make” as a tagline before, but this cake is literally just like my grandma’s banana pudding–in no small part because of the “cherry” on top. I’ll give Nothing Bundt Cakes tons of credit for using legit mini Nilla wafers to top this cake and licensing the name as a selling point. Real banana pudding fans know Nilla is a difference maker.
As for the cake itself, there’s none of that fake Laffy Taffy Banana Candy flavor here. Nothing Bundt Cakes’ Banana Pudding Cake is banana as hell, thanks to the inclusion of real banana puree in the cake itself. The vanilla pudding core further convinces you that you’re enjoying a ladleful of the classic dessert that inspired this cake.
Cons: Folks, I have no complaints. While I won’t proclaim Nothing Bundt Cakes‘ Banana Pudding cake is objectively better than last year’s chart-topping Reese’s-Oreo Triple Treat cake, it absolutely tops my personal ranking thanks to my unending nostalgia for banana pudding. (Love you, grandma.)

I didn’t get a strong banana flavor like I had hoped but what I got was a fresh banana and definitely not artificial so I appreciate it that because I can’t stand runts or Laffy Taffy flavor banana. It came across like a delicious vanilla pudding cake with notes of banana but was delicious nonetheless!
