Here we go, dudes. 4/20 is almost here. There was a time when this date in the calendar was niche and celebrated in a slightly hush-hush way. But honestly, do we really need to beat around the bush anymore? We all know it. We all know what it’s about. And fast food chains know that it’s a perfect moment to capitalize on those munchies.

That’s exactly what Wingstop is doing this year. Shortly after announcing that it would be bringing a new wing flavor (and a new Sprite flavor) to its stores, it revealed that it’s bringing back its Hot Box. Maybe bookmark this one, so it’s less effort to find come Monday.
What Is Wingstop Hot Box?
Wingstop’s Hot Box makes its glorious return starting April 17 (that’s today, people, that’s today!), and will be available through April 20. In its press release for the Hot Box, it alluded to the fact that a lot of its diners would probably be pretty pleased about its return, due to them taking part in 4/20 themselves. “4/20 is a day many of our fans celebrate, rooted in culture and shared moments, making Wingstop the obvious choice,” said Wingstop’s chief brand officer, Donnie Upshaw. “The Wingstop Hot Box elevates fans’ rituals with bold, indulgent and intensely craveable flavor.”
So, what’s so craveable about it? Well, Wingstop’s Hot Box brings back the Fiery Nacho flavor, which you can opt to get on your wings or tenders. This dry rub is cheesy, fiery, and salty – and it’s paired with Wingstop sauce and a big ol’ pile of fries. Wingstop finishes the box off with housemade ranch and herb seasoning and serves it with a drink and a side dip.
What Else Is Wingstop Doing for 4/20?
Wingstop is also celebrating the re-release of the Hot Box and 4/20 by giving away 420 “flavor trays” (let’s be real, we all know what those trays are gonna be used for – but just roll with it). These collectible trays will be first-come, first-served, and will only be available for walk-in orders. Plus, you’ll only be able to find them at four select stores in Los Angeles, San Jose, New York City, and Atlanta.
Wingstop, You Know Your Audience – Kinda
News of Wingstop’s Hot Box coming back for a couple of days was greeted with positive vibes from its customers over on Instagram. “Whoever came up with this idea deserves a raise,” said one comment, with another saying “I NEEEED THIS.” Another pointed out the slight discrepancy in only offering these trays in certain places: “This not being available for Washington State is crazyyyyy.” Come on, Wingstop, you must know where 4/20’s gonna be big.
So sit back, relax, take a deep inhale, and plug your order into the Wingstop app. Hey, 4/20 comes by but once a year; if not now, then when?
