It’s undeniable that mac and cheese is quintessential to the American experience. Kraft is ingrained in our culture, mac and cheese is a staple as a side dish, and the cheesy goodness is a comfort food for even the pickiest of eaters out there. The question one brand set out to try to quantify is just how much Americans love their mac and cheese.

National Mac & Cheese Day And The Big Question
To help us celebrate National Macaroni & Cheese Day on July 14th, Main St Bistro surveyed 1,000 Americans to get their insight on the beloved dish. The most shocking statistic to come out of the survey is that 56% of those surveyed said they would give up coffee or social media before they’d give up mac and cheese.
Yikes! The golden goo is tempting, but I don’t even think I could give up my social media accounts for it. I guess that just goes to show how much of a non-negotiable mac and cheese really is for some. To round out the rest of the survey, Main St Bistro found that 54% of people eat mac and cheese weekly, 86% claim it’s an “adult” food and not just for kids, and nearly 1 in 3 named it their top comfort food. Now that tracks!
The Numbers Don’t Lie
As a believer in statistics, I tend to dislike when someone with skin in the game is the very surveyor. I think I can look the other way on this one considering the low stakes nature of a survey that’s all about mac and cheese.
That, plus Reser’s Main St Bistro is the maker of our favorite premade mac and cheese so we have a lot of faith in them. It’s dang easy to put your trust in someone who gives you “an indulgent cheddar sauce that’s super thick and creamy and clings to the elbow mac (it’s not too gluey, though) with a beautiful broiled bake on top.”
According to the same survey of Americans conducted by Main St Bistro, 73% of consumers enjoy dressing up mac and cheese with toppings and mix-ins. In the spirit of dressing up your mac and cheese, Main St Bistro is stepping in to make “Mac-Over” creations easier than ever with an interactive “Mac-Over” Spinner for fans to discover and share surprising new craveable combos.
Main St Bistro’s digital spinner experience delivers more than Mac-Overs: visitors also have the chance to instantly score over 600 prizes such as limited-edition National Macaroni & Cheese Day merch between now and July 14.
