It’s your favorite time of the month—time for a Costco haul! I hope you’re all still enjoying the frozen foods we focused on last month to beat the heat, because things are about to get spicy! Well, not literally, because there’s actually no spice to be found in the foods this month…but I’m talking about a metaphorical heat. Like we’re getting excited. I don’t know, y’all, I may have gotten ahead of myself because now it just really feels like the metaphor fell flat. I’m a little embarrassed, honestly. But I’ll trudge on for you, because it’s my solemn duty to let you know what to buy at Costco this month.

Fishwife Albacore Tuna in Spicy Olive Oil

This is not a drill, people! Fishwife has been found at Costco. Worlds are colliding. No longer is tinned fish only for those who shop at bougie markets where you have to drop $30 for one tin of the good stuff. Heck no, this is for the common man. I’m about to cause a scene when I buy a pack of Fishwife and crack it open in the food court to top my $1.50 hot dog combo. You’ve been warned. (An additional warning: At the moment, Fishwife tuna is only being sold at Costco stores in L.A., Hawaii, and the Midwest—sorry, everyone else! Move on to the next rec!)

Island Way Sorbet

Unfortunately, the producers of Survivor have not cast me on the show yet, so I have to improvise. Oddly enough, Costco has the perfect food to transport me directly to a Fijian island. Island Way’s sorbet comes in the hollowed-out husk of their former fruits, perfect for digging into while imagining Jeff Probst calling my name as I win a reward challenge, the first time I’ll eat in a week. And for all the non-Survivor fanatics out there, it’s just a generally fun thing to eat to beat the heat this scorching summer. The Sporked crew loves these things, too.

Califia Farms Strawberry Creme Refresher

Califia Farms is known for almond milk, but they went off script with this new flavored milk I spotted at Costco. I use the term “milk” loosely, of course. This strawberry-flavored creamy bev is actually coconut based, and, leaning into summer vibes, Califia suggests serving it over ice or spiking it with a little booze to make a cocktail that approximates a Pina Colada. Creamy drinks by the pool? Sounds good to me.

Simple Mills Honey Cinnamon Sweet Thins

Sadly, summer does have to come to an end, which means that the school year is quickly approaching. These honey cinnamon thins from Simple Mills are swinging into Costco just in time to make their way into lunchboxes around the nation. Fill a baggie in the morning and toss it in with a sandwich and some chips, making sure you grab a handful for yourself because you deserve a little sweetness, too.

Take Home Drunken Noodles

I was recently bouncing around my local Costco while I had some free time (as one does) and obviously taking advantage of all the free samples they were offering. I had quite a variety from every corner of the store, but there was one clear winner: Take Home’s drunken noodles with chicken. Hoooo-weeeee, that sample cup was tiny but it packed some powerful flavor! Grab this meal kit at Costco if you’re looking for a simple answer to the eternal question: What’s for dinner?

Kirkland Signature Marshmallow Crispy Cookie

My favorite thing to do at Costco is to get a $1.50 hot dog combo. Obviously. But my second favorite thing to do is swing by the bakery and see what new product Costco’s created. This month, it’s the marshmallow crispy cookies! 24 cookies made with a base of brown butter dough with crispy rice pieces and marshmallow bites mixed in, all for $9.99. Bring these into work for extra brownie points with your coworkers or just stash them away in the freezer for easy snacking.
