This one might be my fault, y’all. Back in April, AriZona “revealed” RizzBerry Juice Cocktail on April Fools’ Day. In an article titled “5 Best April Fools’ Day Products We Desperately Want Companies to Actually Make” published right here on Sporked, my first entry asks AriZona to release their fake RizzBerry Juice Cocktail for real. Flash forward to today: AriZona sent over a real can of the lightly rebranded Rizzler Berry Juice Cocktail. What have I wrought upon us all? Let’s find out.
But first who or what is a “Rizzler?”
The Rizzler is a nine-year-old social media celebrity known for a funny face he makes while stroking his chin. He frequently collaborates with “The Costco Guys” and makes regular appearances on All Elite Wrestling. Earlier this year, he threw the first pitch at a Mets game and appeared in a Hardee’s commercial. Did I mention he’s nine years old? That’s it, turn everything off; no more internet for anyone for at least a month.
Somehow, the wildest part of this entire situation is that AriZona’s PR boxes for this release contain a baseball jersey and an autographed headshot of The Rizzler. I haven’t gotten mine yet, but I’m already preparing a special space on the mantle for my authentic Rizzler autograph.
Pros: While AriZona’s juice cocktails are usually too sweet (bordering on painful), this berry-heavy mix is surprisingly and pleasantly tart. And, in a rare move for AriZona, this drink is lightly carbonated! Will these positive changes carry into future Juice Cocktail innovations? We can only hope.
Cons: While the can is covered in strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, the actual ingredients mention pear juice, mango puree, kiwi juice, and lemon juice before raspberry juice—with blueberries and strawberries seemingly relegated to the generic “natural flavors” listing. That amalgamation ends up tasting unfocused; it’s definitely fruity, but I would struggle to determine the fruits they want this to taste like in a blind taste test. In AriZona’s defense, this is a rare situation where they designed the can before they made the drink.
