Earlier this year, I covered the feasibility of a Dr Pepper GHOST Energy release. Keurig Dr Pepper acquired the majority of GHOST Energy’s parent company late last year, directly resulting in the death of the Sour Patch Kids and Swedish Fish GHOST Energy flavors. Licensing a flavor from a third party always comes at a cost and with a time limit. Why license a brand from an outside company when you have great in-house options that won’t cost you anything moving forward?

At that time, this idea was pure speculation, but not anymore! We’ve gotten word that GHOST is now planning two energy drink releases based on sodas produced by Keurig Dr Pepper…but it’s not Dr Pepper. Let’s dig into this web of rumors, leaks, and corporate legalese.

Which sodas are being turned into GHOST energy drinks?

Per a leaked retailer calendar sent to us by the most reliable GHOST Energy leaker in the game, GHOST is releasing A&W Root Beer and 7UP Energy drinks in 2026. Cue the “wait, Dr Pepper owns A&W and 7UP?” comments. Yes, it looks like KDP is letting GHOST play around in the brand toybox with a few less iconic names to start with. Honestly, it’s a smart move—if this idea goes down in flames, better to start off with B-players rather than the top dog.

The calendar in question is very believable, lining up perfectly with multiple other calendars we’ve been sent over the past few months. As of now, it looks like we’ll be getting GHOST’s 7UP Energy in April 2026, with the A&W Energy following later in 2026. Both are slated as limited-time-only offerings, but there’s no reason that a breakout success couldn’t lead to an upgrade into permanence later on. (GHOST actually released a permanent energy drink very similar to 7UP called “Faze Up” a few years ago.)

Are we ever getting a Dr Pepper GHOST Energy drink?

I sure hope so. GHOST is pretty on top of the ever-constant chattering online; they know people are clamoring for Dr Pepper Energy. If these first two launches are successful, I fully expect we’ll see more licensed flavors like Orange Crush and Canada Dry. Of course, KDP could be waiting until they fully acquire GHOST in 2028 to release what could be their most popular flavor ever…Capitalism strikes again.
