Hi, sickie. Yes, you. If you’re reading this, it’s probably near the winter holidays, and you’re likely either getting over a cold or about to start a brand new one. Luckily, we spent all of 2025 taste-testing soups so you know what to buy in your cold medicine-induced haze. These are new to the market, but they are the two best soups we tried this year—and don’t forget to buy tissues with your next grocery run.

- New Panera Chicken Noodle
-
Panera quietly fixed its chicken noodle soup, and we’re not-so-quietly shouting about how great the new recipe is now. It used to be bland and forgettable, and now it’s better than most of the canned options out there. The broth is rich and aromatic and savory without being greasy, the noodles are firm and bouncy, and the chicken is surprisingly decent for grocery store soup. This is a BIG glow-up, Panera. Well done.

- Blount Clam Shack Clam Chowder
-
Hear that? It’s a seagull. Flying over the bay. You’re at a seaside shack, waves crashing against the seawall. Someone just handed you a paper boat full of chowder, and… WAKE UP. You’re at home, having a bowl of Blount Clam Shack Clam Chowder, dummy! This clam chowder is so good it borders on disrespectful to the other brands we tried. It’s luxuriously creamy, with layered flavors of brine, herbs, and rich dairy. The potatoes stay firm and the clam pieces are plentiful enough to matter. Yes, it’s pricey, but once you taste it, you’ll understand why it’s earned best of the best (of the best).
