There’s an old saw that says “good things come in threes,” but every once in a while, good things come in pairs, too. For instance: Little Debbie Nutty Buddy. You finish one and you’re sad and then you realize, wow, I have another delicious little peanut-buttery, chocolate-coated wafer bar to eat and, hey, maybe the universe isn’t quite as cruel as it seems. But we’re not here to talk about the virtues of Nutty Buddy. We’re here to talk about Little Debbie Strawberry Shortcake Rolls, which heretofore have come individually wrapped. But a new Little Debbie day is dawning, because Strawberry Shortcake Rolls now come in “big packs” of two.
What else do we know about these new Little Debbie snack cakes? (Okay, fine, not new, but you know what we mean.)
Presumably, these will be the Strawberry Shortcake Rolls you know and love, you’ll simply get more of them. Currently, the individually wrapped rolls come in boxes of six. But the new Little Debbie Big Pack, comes with 12 rolls packaged in pairs. My question: Why were Strawberry Shortcake Rolls ever packaged individually? Their closest counterparts are Little Debbie Swiss Rolls, and those come twin-wrapped.
If I had to answer my own question, I’d say it’s because Little Debbie Strawberry Shortcake Rolls are so sweet. We tried them in our recent Little Debbie taste test and in my review I called the jam “sweet and artificial tasting” (ouch) and pointed out that it’s really more like the liquid candy that comes in a tube than it is like actual strawberry jam. Who could eat more than one?
Apparently, lots of people! As Foodiewiththebeasts put it on Instagram, “No more single rolls for us fatties who need two.” As a fellow card-carrying member of the fatties club, I support this by default.
When and where can you get your hands on the new Little Debbie Big Pack?
The twin-wrapped Little Debbie Strawberry Shortcake Rolls are hitting stores soon, so keep an eye out. In the meantime, Swiss Rolls and Nutty Buddy are there for you when you wanna do double Debbie duty.
