Time is money (and so are electronics, as you’ll soon see) so let’s just start with the news, shall we? Costco has an electronics trade-in program that could get up to $2,550 to spend in the Costco warehouse.

Got an old cracked laptop? That could be next month’s Costco haul. Broken phone? That giant palate of Fishwife tinned fish you’ve been eying. Hunk of junk tablet? Maybe you finally get to take home the 30-ft Slip N’ Slide you’ve been drooling over. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s break down how this trade-in program works.

How do you trade-in old electronics for cash at Costco?

Head on over to Phobio’s Costco page, fill out a form detailing the electronics you want to trade in—brand, purchase date, model, condition, etc. And you’ll get an instant quote. Then, you can print out a shipping label, pack it up, and send it off. After Costco/Phobio receives your item, they’ll inspect it and send off a Digital Costco Shop Card that you can use in the warehouse or online.

What can you trade in?

Costco is accepting phones, tablets, smartwatches, desktops, and media players from a variety of brands, including Apple, Google, and Samsung. And you can get up to $2,550 for laptops, specifically.

Why else should you take advantage of this trade-in program?

Aside from the cash money, you’re recycling! And that’s better for the planet! Companies take your own devices and extract all sorts of stuff from them. Plus, it helps keep all the bad stuff out of landfills. Hooray!

Let us know what you buy with your trade-in cash in the comments! We’ll see you on the Crocodile Mile!

Hi! I’m the editor-in-chief of Sporked. I will never turn down a fresh-shucked oyster but I’ll also leap at whatever new product Reese’s releases and I love a Tostitos Hint of Lime, even if there is no actual lime in the ingredients. Why you should trust me: I have been writing about food and beverages for well over a decade and am an avid at-home cook and snacker. I began my career writing about fine dining and recipes, moved into cocktails and spirits, and now I talk about groceries. If you can eat it or drink it, I’ve probably written about it. What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s dried okra. Appleton Farms prosciutto from Aldi. Some sort of Trader Joe’s cheese (I’m into the aged gouda at the moment). Frozen waffles (usually the Eggo Cinnamon Toast Minis). Spindrift water (loving the Cosmopolitan right now). Favorite ranking: Smoked salmon. Imagine me as Scrooge McDuck but instead of coins I’m diving into a vault of slippery smoked salmon slices. Pure joy. I also found some real steals in that taste test! Least favorite ranking: Canned oysters. I had such high hopes for this but it quickly became a chore. The kitchen smelled like an uncleaned aquarium.
