What is in burger sauce?
Traditionally, burger sauce begins with a base mixture of ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard. After that, you can choose to spice things up to suit your taste, such as adding seasonings like garlic powder or cayenne pepper or paprika, or even more condiments like relish or horseradish. Certain recipes call for things like minced onion, minced garlic, hot sauce, or even hard boiled egg. I guess, at the end of the day, if it’s sauce and it goes on a burger, then you’ve got yourself some burger sauce!!
Is burger sauce the same as thousand island dressing?
While burger sauce and thousand island dressing share a lot of similarities in ingredients and color, they’re not exactly the same. In its essence, burger sauce does boil down to a mix of condiments like mayo, mustard, and ketchup, with a few extra flavorings thrown in. Thousand island’s ingredients consist of mayonnaise, sour cream, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, red onion vinegar, sugar, garlic, and salt and pepper. (Sheesh, they should have named the stuff thousand ingredient dressing!)
How to make a burger sauce?
There are many different recipes for burger sauce. Most consist of the tried-and-true baseline of the ketchup, mustard, and mayo mixture. However, all of them come to the consensus that, once you’ve assembled your burger sauce melange, it is important to whisk them together, then use immediately or refrigerate to keep the flavors fresh.
