We Tried Cup Noodles’ Chicken Wing Flavor Trio

Research shows chicken wings are one of the most frequent offenders when it comes to stained shirts on gameday. Cup Noodles wants to save us all the labor of washing buffalo sauce out of our jerseys, so they’re launching three chicken wing-inspired flavors exclusively at Walmart later this month. Cup Noodles was nice enough to send us the trio for an early taste test; let’s see whether these compare to a BWW’s catering order.

Spicy Buffalo with Ranch!

Spicy Buffalo with Ranch Wings Cup Noodles

Pros: Buffalo isn’t my preferred wing toss lubricant, but I can say this has a very accurate spicy buffalo chicken flavor. Of the three flavors I tried today, the end product here smelled the most like the wing it was claiming to be. Points for accuracy in all categories.

Cons: The ranch that’s allegedly present here is actually cultured buttermilk, and it is getting drowned by the spices. That said, the heat hunters will likely be disappointed by the spice level here. I, a known wuss, had little trouble with the half-serving I downed before moving on to our other flavors.

Garlic Parmesan!

Garlic Parmesan Wings Cup Noodles

Pros: It’s a good thing I like garlic; this ramen would knock out a brood of vampires before they could even reach your front door. While I wouldn’t call this as accurate as the last flavor, it’s definitely an easier flavor to scarf down as a quick snack.

Cons: I wish the parmesan were a stronger factor here, rather than hiding behind a herculean wall of garlic. This subtle, muted batch of Garlic Parmesan Cup Noodles would likely have gotten a better score… if I didn’t immediately follow it up with the greatest Cup Noodles flavor in recorded history. Tough breaks, kid.

Lemon Pepper!

Lemon Pepper Wings Cup Noodles

Pros: Lord above, we have a winner. I’ve only been on the Cup Noodles beat here at Sporked for a few months, but this is without a doubt the standout flavor to date. The vibrant citrus zing and pepper pep make for a powerful, accurate experience. Per my pal and peer SnachWithZach, these Lemon Pepper Wings Cup Noodles do Atlanta proud.

Cons: These are too good to drop for a limited time only as part of a larger football promotion. Check the numbers when the launch is complete, Cup Noodles; I expect this flavor will be the most repurchased of the three.
