Tate’s Bake Shop cookies convinced me that crispy cookies could be good. Typically, I like my cookies so chewy, so gooey, that they’re practically just discs of dough. But even I cannot deny the perfection that is a Tate’s chocolate chip cookie. Are they all that good, though?
We sat down to 11 different Tate’s cookies, tasted them all, and then ranked the top six Tate’s cookies flavors. No, it wasn’t all the Tate’s Bake Shop cookies. But we’re only human ladies and we can only consume so many cookies in one sitting. We’ll update this list as we munch through the rest of the Tate’s cookies line-up.
Here are the top six best Tate’s cookies flavors—and, no, the chocolate chip cookie didn’t actually take the number one spot.

- Tate’s Soft Baked Dark Chocolate Chip
-
Look, Tate’s is a crispy cookie brand. In fact, it’s the best crispy cookie brand. I’m not sure why they decided to try to dip a toe into the soft baked cookie game, but they did. And the results are fine. It’s hard to make a great, shelf-stable soft cookie! And Tate’s did their darndest. While the milk chocolate chip soft baked cookies taste pretty close to every other soft baked cookie you can find at the grocery store, the dark chocolate chip version is actually pretty good. The dark chocolate chips are what set this cookie apart—they’re higher quality than the other chocolate chips you find in grocery store cookies. If you insist on going soft with Tate’s, these are the Tate’s cookies to buy.

- Tate’s Gluten Free Chocolate Chip
-
Tate’s gluten-free chocolate chip cookies are really, really good. If we weren’t tasting them head to head, I’m not sure I’d be able to tell the difference between these and traditional Tate’s. But, since that’s exactly what we were doing, I could tell the difference. And the GF Tate’s are just a bit more muted and a bit more sandy. Still, if you’re eating gluten free, you’re gonna be happy.

- Tiny Tate’s
-
These tiny little Tate’s chocolate chip cookies are slightly larger than the cookies in Cookie Crisp. But they’re way better—even if they do only have one or two chocolate chips in each cookie. These are great for a quick afternoon snack, but I also think you could have some real fun throwing these into a snack mix or using them to decorate a cake. There’s lots of possibilities here.

- Tate’s Oatmeal Raisin
-
Oatmeal raisin cookies are top-tier cookies and Tate’s treats them as such. These are slightly thicker than the usual Tate’s cookies, and they have a slight chew to them thanks to the oats. The raisins are plentiful and the flavor of the cookie itself is a perfect balance of salty and sweet. If you’re not into chocolate, these are definitely the Tate’s Bake Shop cookies you should be buying. All that being said, I’d really love it if they released a chocolate chip oatmeal raisin cookie. C’mon, Tate’s!

- Tate’s Chocolate Chip
-
You know it, you love it. It’s the best chocolate chip cookie you can buy at the grocery store. Here’s the thing: It’s not just crispy, it’s crispy like the bits around the edges of a homemade cookie. It tastes like brown butter and caramelized sugar. I don’t even like crispy cookies, but I like this cookie a whole lot. I expected this to be the best of all the Tate’s cookie flavors. But one truly wowed us and topped even this platonic ideal of a crispy chocolate chip cookie.

- Tate’s Walnut Chocolate Chip
-
This is such an incredible crispy cookie. It’s the classic chocolate chip—buttery, crispy, melt in your mouth—plus lots of little bits of tender walnuts! The walnut bits add even more texture and that nutty flavor really enriches the whole cookie experience. The Sporked taste testers instantly knew this was the best of all the Tate’s cookies after taking just one bite. If you can eat nuts, then you need to try this cookie. It’s the best.
