McDonald’s drinks aren’t exactly demure and mindful, guys. Unless you’re ordering plain water when you pick up your Big Mac meal (and if you are, then we can’t help but feel that you missed a flavor opportunity), then your options live in a flavor world that can basically be defined as “sugar with a twist.” Coke, Sprite, Dr. Pepper, Fanta—they’re all familiar flavors, but they don’t exactly reinvent the wheel.

Well, if you want your sugar fix with a hint of something special, then we’ve got the McDonald’s ordering hack for you. Introducing the Cotton Candy Sprite, a viral drink that, in true modern-day fashion, has been doing the rounds online on Insta and TikTok as a must-try in the Golden Arches. Here’s how to get yours.

Sprite + Vanilla = Fun

To order the Cotton Candy Sprite, you essentially take its main drink and then amp it up to the high heavens. Grab yourself a medium Sprite, and then add three pumps of vanilla syrup to it (y’know, the kind that you normally put in your coffee). The addition of vanilla will, somehow, immediately transform its taste to that of the carnival treat that we all know and love.

It’s worth saying, obviously, that it’ll also make its sugar content sky high. Each pump of vanilla syrup at McDonald’s has five grams of sugar, and a medium Sprite has a whopping 64 grams of the stuff—so it goes without saying that this drink is far from the healthiest option out there. If you do want to tone it down a notch on the sugar front, then you can always get a Sprite Zero instead. The flavor won’t be exactly the same, but it’s pretty darn close.

Hack Your Way to Drinks Heaven

Cotton Candy Sprite isn’t the only secret menu drink at McDonald’s, and there are a lot more ways to have fun with your beverages than you might think. If you want to pretend that you’re in the depths of a hot Italian summer, turn your espresso into a McAffogato by pouring it over a cup of Mickey D’s vanilla soft serve. Alternatively, you can grab yourself a Neapolitan Ice Cream Shake by requesting that your server pour you equal amounts of strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate, mixing it all in one cup.

None of those have quite the tooth-aching quality that the Cotton Candy Sprite does, though—and we’re willing to bet that McDonald’s is secretly glad that people are getting so playful with its drinks. The restaurant’s in the midst of a big push to beef up its beverage offer and is due to bring a load of new drinks to its 2026 menu, so it’s basically approving this kind of hack from within, right?
