You probably know this by now, but Stanley Tucci loves food. Like, looooves it. Over the last few years, the effortlessly cool actor and star of the upcoming Devil Wears Prada sequel (which we’re unbelievably excited about) has cultivated a bit of a side hustle as a host for various food and travel shows, where he’s educated viewers on the flavors and joys of Italian cuisine. It’s fair to say he knows his stuff.
So, when Mr. Tucci comes to bat for specific Italian food products, you’d best believe we listen. And when it comes to the basics like pasta, he’s pretty particular.
Rummo Pasta Is Stanley Tucci’s Preferred Brand

In an interview with GQ Italia, Tucci professed his love for Rummo, a pasta brand born in 1846 in Benevento, a city located slightly northeast of Naples. The family-owned pasta company puts a huge premium on quality and sustainability. It works with 100% Italian wheat and with methods embedded in the slow, somewhat rustic fundamentals of pasta making, instead of supercharging them with a load of newfangled technologies that take the love out of the food.
It’s pretty clear that the sense of tradition and lineage that Rummo carries is part of why Tucci loves it. In the interview, he discusses his grandparents’ immigration from Southern Italy, and the centrality that food has had in his life before talking about the fact that Rummo is a go-to when he’s traversing the globe. “I can’t say I always travel with the pasta, ‘cos that would almost be like an insane person who did that…but I will always go and look for this pasta,” he said, before adding, “they don’t pay me to say that.”
Tucci also says that it’s his go-to brand when he’s got an apartment on location, where he can cook and unwind after a long day’s work. A big bowl of pasta after a day of being a movie star—now that’s the stuff that dreams are made of.
Our Taste-Testers Were Less Convinced By Rummo
Now, we don’t doubt Stanley Tucci’s creds when it comes to Italian food at all, but interestingly, when we were ranking the best spaghetti to buy, Rummo didn’t rank super highly on our list. Don’t get us wrong here, we definitely liked it, and anyone can see this brand’s clear quality—but we found ourselves drifting towards other Italian brands like De Cecco and La Molisana for their chewy and smooth, deeply satisfying texture.
Our top product, though, was Rao’s Bronze Die Cut Spaghetti, thanks to its slightly ridged texture that makes it easy for its famous sauce flavors to cling to. God, now we’re hungry. So, Tucci or our taste-testers: Which of our words are you gonna take?
