Oscar Mayer just debuted a new bacon flavor today, and I’m getting déjà vu. Not because my favorite hot dog brand has done anything like this before—this is actually their first new bacon flavor in five years. (Yes, Oscar Mayer, you are my favorite hot dog brand; you lucky dog, you.) I’m simply sensing a new food trend for our year 2026… which I’ll talk about more about in a minute. For now, let’s get introductions out of the way:

Everyone, meet the new Maple Bourbon Bacon from Oscar Mayer.
This new thick-cut bacon is cured with Evan Williams Kentucky Bourbon. It’s slow-smoked for 12 hours and should, according to reports, give subtle, smooth tasting notes of vanilla and caramel from the bourbon.
Btw, this is obviously different from Oscar Mayer’s current “Maple Bacon”—just in case you’re reading this on your phone at the grocery store right now (hi, queen) and already hunting for it. This new bacon should be hitting stores today, but the rollout might not reach you right away, so just make sure you’re buying the right thing!
And that’s not the only new Oscar Mayer product coming this month! We’re also getting… drum roll please…
New Oscar Mayer Beef and Pork Franks and Cheesy Smokehouse Stuffed Hot Dogs. Grillin’ season is officially here, y’all. And look, I am all for a new bacon flavor, but I was quite literally never the same since the last time I tried a new stuffed Oscar Mayer hot dog. It was summer of 2024. Two years ago. I still think about those stuffed dogs all the time. A new “smokehouse cheesy” stuffed hot dog is absolutely thrilling to me. I am not exaggerating. I am thrilled.
Also: Oscar Mayer plans to launch a new bacon flavor every year going forward. That’s just some fun extra news we heard from them today. No takes-backsies, Oscar Mayer. I’m holding you to that.
How is Maple Bourbon Bacon related to any sort of food trend, Ariana?
Listen. Hear me out. I don’t think “maple bourbon” specifically is a new food trend—except for the case of Burger King’s Maple Bourbon BBQ Whopper, which just returned to their menu—but separately, maple and bourbon are having a bit of a moment. Along with the Whopper, Burger King also put out a new Maple Bacon Croissan’wich. And Costco just made a hot dog-themed bourbon. I just feel like I’m seeing a lot of savory-sweet boozy food combos ahead of BBQ season this year, and hey, who can be mad at that?
Anyways, we’re going to be trying this new Oscar Mayer bacon ASAP, so stay tuned for that review! Toodles!!
