The UK’s getting to have all the fun at the moment with new product releases – and as someone who lives in the UK, I can’t say that I’m too mad about it. In the last few months, we’ve got ourselves some new Burger King-flavored Pringles (which I finally saw in the wild this week, but resisted buying, much to my own disappointment later in the day), a new spicy KFC menu, and apple-flavored Red Bull. And this week, we’ve also got ourselves a Pepsi Max Tropical flavor.

Now, the irony of a Tropical flavor being released on what is a cold, rainy island about 7 months of the year is not lost on me. But it’s happening. Here’s the breakdown.

Pepsi Max Tropical: Summer Has Finally Arrived

Pepsi Max Tropical was announced on Pepsi UK’s Instagram account last week, and it had the people rejoicing. The comment section was full of happy potential customers getting ready to try this one, and a couple of folks who have already tried it, confirming that it’s a hit.

I can see why. This flavor combines pineapple, mango, and peach flavors for a tropical twist that I predict will work pretty well with the classic taste of Pepsi. The release of Pepsi Max Tropical is part of the brand’s push towards younger customers, and with that comes the rework of the can design for its other flavors. They now feel a lot fresher and funkier (and by the use of the word “funkier,” I think you can probably tell that I’m not the target audience here, but I digress).

There’s no word yet on whether this flavor will be widely available in the US, but it can be found through certain snack import websites. For now, though, major retailers won’t be stocking it.

Tropical? In The UK?

Yep! The tropical drink flavor market is huge over here. Rubicon, a beverage producer that’s based in my hometown of Milton Keynes, sells highly popular fruit juices and sodas in mango, pineapple, watermelon, and lychee flavors. We’ve also got drinks like Ka, Rio, and Levi Roots Caribbean Crush, which can also be found pretty widely. So I’m not hugely surprised that Pepsi has chosen to take this path with its flavors this summer.

It’s also part of a broader push for more flavors for Pepsi, both in the UK and worldwide. Last year, we received new Strawberries & Cream and Cream Soda flavors, while customers stateside have seen the release of Pepsi’s new prebiotic soda. We’ve also just heard that it’ll be putting out its Vanilla & Cream flavor as its holiday option this year. Pepsi never sleeps on either side of the pond.
