A couple weeks ago, we told you about how Costco fans were angry at the retailer’s new line of sourdough bread bowls. (Spoiler: They were upset about the recipe, when many felt contained too many ingredients to be a real “sourdough.”)

However, it looks customers aren’t angry about Costco’s new Blueberry Sourdough Bread Loaf, and are actually excited about it. Here’s why.

Why are people praising this Blueberry Sourdough Bread Loaf?

Priced at around ten dollars, this two-pound loaf of Kirkland “hearth-baked” sourdough is described as having a “robust sour flavor.” But what has people excited about it are the blueberries, which are numerous and “real.”

Now you wouldn’t think “real” blueberries would be worthy of note, but Costco recently drew some customer complaints after a video posted by TikToker nutritionbynaz pointed out a bag of Costco bagels that included “simulated blueberries” made from sugar, corn syrup, and cornstarch. Now, those bagels appeared to be from a Canadian Costco, and I haven’t been able to find any reports of them popping up here in the states. But Costco fans were pleased to find that this new Blueberry Sourdough Loaf featured tons of real blueberries in the mix.

What are people saying about the Blueberry Sourdough?

Customers in the Costco Reddit were quick to comment on the new loaf, with one joking, “Guess this is where all the blueberries in the muffins went.” Another thread had some praise for it, including “Bought some today, thinly sliced and oven toasted with butter and it was DIVINE!” and “We already sold through our inventory of it. The first day we had it we cut one up for the employees to try. I got some butter and whipped it up ate about 15 pieces of that. It’s soo good.”

But that thread also some familiar complaints that this wasn’t real sourdough. One Redditor called it “Fake sourdough,” while another wrote, “Is this made with enriched flour? Probably is. Wish it was real sourdough I would stock up and freeze it. It’s so much healthier when it’s genuine sourdough but I’ll probably eat this in moderation. Looks good!” So, I guess real blueberries aren’t enough to make everyone happy.
