These new Powerade flavors should have plenty of “kick!” Because…soccer!

Hot on the heels of the news that Tim Hortons has released new “international” themed Timbits to celebrate Canada hosting the 2026 World Cup and Lay’s releasing 40 flavors of chips in honor of the global soccer competition, another company is releasing new soccer/football themed products to tap into the World Cup market.
This time it’s energy drink Powerade, which has put together a “legacy lineup” of three new flavors as the “official Sports Drink of FIFA World Cup 2026.” And if, like me, you’re curious about how new flavors can have a legacy, I guess the comes from Powerade’s “Power Your Legacy” promotion. So I guess it’s your legacy that’s important, not the flavors.
What are the new Powerade flavors?
The three new flavors will hit stores on April 28. They are:
Blood Orange Kick
Powerade describes this one as providing “a bold rush of tangy blood orange flavor with a subtle warming kick,” in case you thought the kick in the name was just to better tie it in with soccer.
White Grape Wave
This one is described as having “a sweet and crisp grape flavor with a juicy finishing,” so I’m betting there’s a strong juice-flavored aftertaste that lingers after the initial taste.
Cold Berry Burst
Powerade describes this one as having “a burst of cool berry flavor with an icy finish,” which can’t help but remind me of all the various Gatorade “frost” flavors. (Which is why I’ll be searching this one out, first.)
What are people saying about these new Powerade flavors?
Our own Griffin Parker dropped some early news about these new Powerade flavors on his Instagram, and the commenters were less enthused by this news and more interested in Powerade bringing back products like White Cherry and the line-up of Xtra Sour Powerade.
These aren’t the only World Cup Powerade flavors
While this trio of flavors is Powerade’s offering to U.S. fans, it’s also launching two other new flavors down under. Powerade Assist (a citrus and hibiscus that is teal green) and Powerade Outlast (a citrus and melon flavor that is deep purple) are now available in Australia and New Zealand.
