We might be two months away from it officially being summer, but not according to Shake Shack, which just dropped a full summer menu on us. The Smoky BBQ menu is back! And it’s bringing with it an all new sandwich that might sound pret-ty familiar to McDonald’s fans.

Shake Shack introduces an all new sandwich

So, what is this mysterious new sandwich? It’s a BBQ Boneless Baby Back Rib Sandwich. And that, to me, sounds an awful lot like Shake Shack is dropping its own version of the McRib. Okay, it’s not exactly like a McRib. It doesn’t quite cross into that culinary uncanny valley by being molded into looking like a little rack of ribs. But it’s pretty darn similar.

It’s made with deboned baby back pork ribs that are slow cooked for nine hours and marinated in a BBQ spice-spiked apple cider blend. It’s served on a toasted potato bun and topped with coleslaw and pickles. Conversely, a McRib is served on a long bun and topped with pickles and onions—no coleslaw. It’s available now for $12.99 at Shake Shack locations nationwide.

What other foods are on Shake Shack’s summer menu?

Along with the new rib sammie, Shake Shack is offering:

New Mac & Cheese ($5.99)

Cavatappi pasta mixed with cheddar and American cheese sauce, topped with breadcrumbs.

Smoky Classic BBQ Burger ($10.49)

Angus beef patty topped with American cheese, applewood-smoked bacon, pickles, crispy onions, and BBQ sauce

Smoky Classic BBQ Chicken Sandwich ($10.49)

Fried white meat chicken topped with American cheese, bacon, pickles, crispy onions, and BBQ sauce.

Spicy Fries with Ranch ($5.49)

Shake Shack’s signature crinkle cut fries seasoned with a mix of cayenne, garlic, and paprika, served with a side of ranch. You can also get these fries topped with cheese sauce for an extra 50 cents.

Hi! I’m the editor-in-chief of Sporked. I will never turn down a fresh-shucked oyster but I’ll also leap at whatever new product Reese’s releases and I love a Tostitos Hint of Lime, even if there is no actual lime in the ingredients. Why you should trust me: I have been writing about food and beverages for well over a decade and am an avid at-home cook and snacker. I began my career writing about fine dining and recipes, moved into cocktails and spirits, and now I talk about groceries. If you can eat it or drink it, I’ve probably written about it. What I buy every week: Trader Joe’s dried okra. Appleton Farms prosciutto from Aldi. Some sort of Trader Joe’s cheese (I’m into the aged gouda at the moment). Frozen waffles (usually the Eggo Cinnamon Toast Minis). Spindrift water (loving the Cosmopolitan right now). Favorite ranking: Smoked salmon. Imagine me as Scrooge McDuck but instead of coins I’m diving into a vault of slippery smoked salmon slices. Pure joy. I also found some real steals in that taste test! Least favorite ranking: Canned oysters. I had such high hopes for this but it quickly became a chore. The kitchen smelled like an uncleaned aquarium.
