McDonald’s is busy with a lot of stuff this year, but one area that it’s really going hard is around its drinks. Back in January, we discussed the new drinks that it was bringing to its menu, including a Sprite Berry Blast that was first out of the gate to reveal itself as a potential smash hit. Come May 6, we’ll see the official release of this new drinks menu, with six of them making it to the McCafé lineup.

And if you can’t wait to hear what each one is like, don’t worry: McDonald’s employees are ready to reveal all. In a couple of threads on Reddit, crew members have reviewed these drinks. We’re here to bring you their responses.
McDonald’s New Drinks Reviews
Drink-by-drink, here’s what people are making of the new McDonald’s beverages:
Sprite Berry Blast
We’ve already said that the Sprite Berry Blast might be the biggest success of the bunch, and it looks like McDonald’s employees agree. “I really like the Sprite one, it’s so good,” said one employee, with another person stating that they love it. If you’re expecting anything too different, though, you might want to be aware that it tastes pretty similar to the existing Blue Raspberry Frozen Fanta.
Strawberry Watermelon Refresher
In the words of one crew member, “strawberry watermelon is TIGHT,” and this seems to be the general consensus. We don’t have too many specifics on exactly why it’s tight, but this one has already emerged as a go-to drink for certain employees.
Dirty Dr Pepper
Okay, so we’ve got a mixed bag here. Some employees like this new vanilla-infused Dr Pepper, but others are less convinced. “The vanilla syrup leaves a bad after taste and it lingers around long after you have finished the drink. Like 15 minutes after trying it I could still taste the vanilla in my mouth,” said a crew member, also saying that it’s “meh.” We’re personally not a big fan of meh.
Orange Dream
The word is in: The Orange Dream has killed it. This is another new dirty soda from McDonald’s, and the restaurant seems to have got the flavor profile just right: “The Orange Dream tastes like a Creamsicle bar to me,” said one employee. Another person said that it was “amazing.”
Mango Pineapple Refresher
This new refresher comes with popping boba (which McDonald’s has also put in its KPop Demon Hunters McFlurry), and this has proved to be a little divisive for some employees. The main problem with the Mango Pineapple Refresher, though, is that it seems to be very, very sweet—and potentially excessively so. Those who like moderation in their drinks need not apply.
Blackberry Passionfruit Refresher
The new Blackberry Passionfruit Refresher might have received the most muted response of them all from employees. “Blackberry passionfruit’s not so bad,” said one person, while another said that it’s “pretty good.” These aren’t exactly glowing endorsements, but hey—at least it’s not causing people to run a mile.
We’ll be waiting to hear your response to these drinks when they drop, too—let us know, folks, let us know!
