Ruffles Has a Hot New Flavor for Summer

New summer snacks and beverages are already dropping on store shelves, and we’re seeing some really interesting new flavors for the season. The latest addition to the line-up is an all new Ruffles flavor—and it’s a hot one.

Ruffles is releasing a brand new, spicy chips flavor that’s perfect for your summer cookouts or just hanging out in the backyard, doing nothing. (That’s my favorite summer plan: doing absolute nothing.)

Ruffles is releasing new Buffalo wings chips

Ruffles’ new summer flavor features the tangy, hot taste of Buffalo wings, promising that tasty mix of cayenne pepper and buttery goodness without having to constantly wipe your mouth. (Your hands are a different matter.) Just think of how good these are going to be with a blue cheese dip!

According to Allrecipes, the chips are going to be spicy—but not too spicy. It sounds like the brand is trying to lean more into the tang of Buffalo sauce than the heat. And while the flavor seems perhaps more fitting for a football-centric fall release, remember that this summer is America’s 250th anniversary. There really isn’t a food more American than Buffalo wings. (Sorry, hot dogs and hamburgers, but it’s true.)

When are the new Ruffles chips dropping?

The new Ruffles flavor will start hitting stores in a limited run starting May 31, then have a nationwide release starting June 15. An 8oz bag will run you $5.49 and a 2.25oz bag will be $2.69.

Wing-flavored Ruffles…sounds familiar

You might be asking: Doesn’t Ruffles already have a wing flavor? Actually they have two: Ruffles Molten Hot Wings and another Hot Wings flavor in their Double Crunch line. It looks like the important distinction here is “hot.” I’m betting these new Buffalo wing chips won’t be as hot as those other versions—and probably tangier and more buttery. So if you’re looking for that spicy flavor that’s not going to burn your mouth, you might want to try these out.
