The McDonald’s World Cup Meal Is Perfect For Soccer Collectors 

If you’ve ever thought to yourself that you miss the days when you were a kid and your fast-food meals would come with toys or trinkets, then McDonald’s has your back… at least if you like soccer. With kids already accounted for with the FIFA World Cup 26™ Happy Meal, now adults can get in on the collectible World Cup fun, too―through the purchase of a FIFA World Cup™ Meal.

As hype around the Cup continues to build and kickoff being just days away, McDonald’s released the FIFA World Cup™ Meal on June 4 with special sauces, unique packaging, and collectible cups to keep soccer fans fed―literally.  

The Meal

The FIFA World Cup™ Meal is available in four forms. At breakfast, the meal is served as either the Sausage McMuffin With Egg Meal or the Sausage Biscuit With Egg Meal, alongside hash browns. For the rest of the day, the meal is available as a Big Mac meal or a 10-piece McNuggets meal. The McNuggets meal is served, for the first time, with a golden cup of Big Mac Sauce, and all meals come in the uniquely branded packaging.  

The Collectible Cup

From the golden arches being crowned with a soccer ball to the Cup’s trophy being printed on the containers, the entire meal looks distinctly on theme. The meal, of course, comes with a drink as well. So, in the spirit of the tournament, McDonald’s serves the meal with limited-edition collectible cups.  

When you order the meal, you have a one in eight chance of getting the legendary soccer player of World Cups past that you want most. The players include David Beckham, Christian Pulisic, Son Heung-min, Thierry Henry, Ronaldinho, Alphonso Davies, Lamine Yamal, and Santiago Giménez. But there’s an additional cup variation―that follows the same theme and style―with the catch that instead of a soccer player of legend, the cup is adorned with Grimace, a McDonald’s character of legend. The choice to include Grimace in the nine-cup lineup physically cements the McDonald’s character into World Cup history, especially since the FIFA World Cup™ has been in collaboration with McDonald’s for over 30 years.
