Flavored whipped topping is nothing new – but man, if these food companies aren’t stepping it up of late. In the last year or so, we’ve seen a few whipped topping flavors come out of the woodwork that have caused us to both do a double-take and to think, “you know what? Hell yeah.” Sam’s Club’s Thin Mints whipped topping was a good example of this, and one that we loved; Snickers’ whipped topping with Classic Cream was another.

Both of those pale in comparison to Target’s new flavor, though. This one’s out there.
Favorite Day Gummy Worm Whipped Dairy Topping
Yes, Target has taken the plunge – some might say finally – and it’s bringing out a Gummy Worm Whipped Dairy Topping. It’s the product we never knew we needed (no, seriously, we had no idea). This new topping was spotted by @candyhunting on Target’s website, and when we checked…yep, there it is. The can art shows what looks like a dirt cake topped with the pink whipped topping, with gummy worms studded in it. It’s not entirely appetizing, we must say, but there we are.
The catch, though, is that this isn’t out yet. Although it’s listed on the Target website, it’s marked as being out of stock. We can expect it to drop pretty soon, we’d say, although we’re not quite sure when.
And…Will It Taste Like Gummy Worms?
Honestly, who can say? And more to the point, do gummy worms have a particularly distinctive flavor? Yes, they’re delicious, but their success kinda lies in their soft, chewy texture, not necessarily their taste, which is vaguely sugary and fruity. We’d imagine this whipped topping will be the same, although hey, maybe we’ll be surprised on that front.
It’s safe to say that everyone’s as baffled as we are, though. The comments on @candyhunting’s post were a chorus of surprise and puzzlement, with one person saying, “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.” As expected, no reviews of this whipped topping just yet, but we’ll be waiting with bated breath. Hopefully it doesn’t have the same effect as Trader Joe’s’ new gummy worms, for everyone’s sake.
