Fruit snacks are a lunchbox staple. They’re almost always going to be a child pleaser and you feel like you’re at least giving them an okay treat that isn’t packed with sugar. But fruit snacks are very close to gummy candies and that means sugar. When trying to pack a balanced lunch, for you or your child, it can seem hard to give them treats that won’t just be a load of sugar that leads to a massive crash later.

So what are you supposed to do when your child demands their fruit snack pack with lunch or you see the box calling you when you’re at the grocery store? Well, SmartSweets has the perfect solution.

Great Taste, Less Sugar

SmartSweets just launched their new line of fruit snacks. And you’re guessing right, they’ve got less sugar than traditional fruit snacks. They have started their new line with two flavors, Mixed Fruit and Berry Medley.

“SmartSweets was built on revolutionizing the candy industry by innovating the delicious candy you know and love―without the sugar,” said Roanna Wang, Brand Director at SmartSweets. “Expanding into fruit snacks is a natural extension of our mission to kick sugar. Consumers shouldn’t have to choose between great taste and less sugar, and we’re excited to bring our signature approach to a category enjoyed by millions of families every day. This launch allows us to reach more snacking occasions and continue to trailblaze the better-for-you space.”

Less Sugar Is The Way To Go

We think SmartSweets has the potential to open up snacks to people who are limited by dietary restrictions. The company, founded to provide candy without the harm of excess sugar, strives to make everyone feel normal without the blood sugar spike taking a hit. We think that’s a pretty great move and we’re sure there are kids out there who are going to be thrilled to be able to have a bag of fruit snacks in their lunch just like everyone else.

Currently, these are available for purchase from Target and Kroger, but will be seeing a wider release later this summer. They’ll be coming to Sprouts, Whole Foods, and Amazon. So when you want a snack without the sugar crash, reach for these fruit snacks.

Hi, I'm Ashley! Food and writing have both been passions of mine for a very long time. Starting to write about food just made sense as the next step. When I'm not writing about food, I can be found cooking up new creations, watching cooking shows (GBBO has me in a hold right now), and shopping for new and interesting foods to try. When I'm not writing and too full to think about food, I play games and hang out with my dogs.
