Everyone and their mothers have been hopping onto the dirty soda train, but McDonald’s is playing their cards a little bit differently. Innovation at McDonald’s has led them down a path that brings together the Starbucks refreshers, popping boba, dirty sodas, and even energy drinks. Following the launch of their refreshers earlier this year, this new lineup potentially coming to McDonald’s is looking to make waves… or maybe even wings.

McDonald’s has already announced that Red Bull drinks will be introduced to the McCafe menu in the fall. But now, we’re getting a sneak peek into how they will be released and what flavors may be included in the launch. Currently, roughly 10 different flavors of Red Bull Energizers are being tested around the country.
Here’s What May Be Coming
Honestly, when I think about new menu items coming to fast food chains, it’s rarely going to entail an entire menu lineup. I mean, if they end up adding all 10 flavors that have been in discussion and testing, then it’s looking like McDonald’s is coming for some of the big beverages brands like Dutch Bros, Starbucks, and even its fast-food competitor, Sonic. Between the initial refresher launch, the McCafé menu, and its standard soda fountain drinks, this launch next will set McDonald’s apart in the beverage game. That is, if they can pull it off.
The Cherry Rush, Green Apple, and Peach Boost Energizers are all new flavors that are either in market testing now or have been for months. And these three flavors seem pretty simple. A fruity Red Bull served straight up. The Dragon Berry Energizer and Popping Paradise Energizer are also in market testing, but these two will seemingly both have two flavors in the drinks. And in the case of the Popping Paradise Energizer, it has popping boba pearl as well. The final drink in market testing is the Tropical Cloud Energizer, and, true to its name, it has a cloud of cold foam sitting on top. These all are based off existing Red Bull flavors, so it seems pretty likely that a fan of Red Bull would be able to find a drink that suits their tastes pretty easily.
And Possible Additional Flavors
Just announced through a recent conference, McDonald’s just announced that four additional flavors may hit the market as well. These include the Popping Citrus Energizer with popping boba pearls and the Strawberry Shortcake Energizer that looks as though it will be topped with cold foam to give it a dirty soda, strawberry shortcake vibe. The other two drinks look a bit more suspicious to me. The Blue Ocean Energizer looks to be a profusely green color that is not only misleading to the name, but it is very unappetizing. And the Triple Berry Energizer looks like they are trying to introduce it with actual fresh blackberries included in the drink. I’m not a picky eater, but generally I’m not ordering anything with as short of a shelf-life as a blackberry from a fast food joint.
