By this point, calling protein a trend almost feels a little, well, incorrect. Can it really be a trend anymore if it’s just the new standard? It feels as though the pursuit of protein now governs every decision made in the food industry, and that doesn’t look as though it’ll change any time soon. Protein chips, protein ice cream bars, protein shots…protein everything.

So, to Hormel’s new snacks, which are fully leaning into the protein vibes – although in this case, given that Hormel is primarily a company that manufactures and sells processed meats, we’ll allow it. It feels a little more natural here. But I digress! New snacks!
Hormel Pepperoni Snack Bites
Hormel Foods Corporation announced the release of its new Pepperoni Snack Bites yesterday, and the company’s marketing them in its press release as a “new refrigerated protein snack.” Each pack of Snack Bites has a pack of sliced pepperoni in a smaller, more snackable size. “Our new snack bites are easy to grab and made for the moments when you just need something that satisfies your hunger,” said Rhonda Ihrke, Hormel’s pepperoni brand manager, in a statement.
Given food companies’ ever-ongoing inclination to cram their products full of as much protein as possible, we were interested to note Hormel’s restraint here. Each serving of its Pepperoni Snack Bites contains just five grams of protein (although the packs contain more than one serving, so we guess that you can ignore that if you so choose). Oh, and perhaps the most interesting move here is that Pepperoni Snack Bites come in three different flavors: Original, Parmesan, and Dill Pickle (which sees them feeling very 2026 indeed, what with all the dill pickle products flying around at the moment). Dill pickle pepperoni? Okay, then!
When Can I Get These Snack Bites?
From July 2026 onward – and hey, it’s July 2026 already! Hormel’s Pepperoni Snack Bites will be available at “select retailers nationwide,” it says, but they may take a minute to roll out fully, given that they were announced quite literally yesterday. Keep your eyes peeled and your protein sensors well-tuned, folks.
