Everyone’s Favorite Moon Pie Flavor Is Back (But Not For Long)

I’ve always felt that the name “Moon Pie” feels…ambitious. For what is essentially a graham cracker sandwich filled with marshmallow and coated with chocolate, bearing the name of a celestial body feels very grand – but who am I to ask them to reconsider? It’s clearly worked, and Moon Pies retain a sense of nostalgia about them that other brands could merely hope for.

That nostalgia is helped by the limited-edition flavors that the Chattanooga Bakery, which owns Moon Pie, decides to remount now and again, which generally have a very classic vibe. Now, another one’s back, but you’ll have to get it before it disappears into the heavens once more.

Peach Cobbler Mini Moon Pies

Yesterday, we learned by way of Allrecipes and @junkfoodinthetrunk3 that Peach Cobbler Mini Moon Pies are back in stores. It’s tempting to call this a seasonal drop (and, given that peach season is firmly in full swing, they kind of are), but this flavor also popped up last autumn, and as late as November, so it seems that peach cobbler’s on the menu no matter what time of the year it is – well, in Moon Pie-land, anyway.

Peach Cobbler Mini Moon Pies replace the classic chocolate coating of this snack with, as you might expect, a peach cobbler flavor, and the idea is that the peach and the graham cracker give a cobbler effect. Apparently, it does: Reviews of this moon pie are pretty glowing, with one customer saying that it “[tastes] just like a regular peach cobbler.” Another said, “They are absolutely delicious,” and “the best flavor of moon pies I have ever had.” Reviews that glow as brightly as the moon, if we do say so ourselves.

And Where Can I Find These Cosmic Treats?

They’ve been spotted at Walmart, although how widespread their distribution is is unclear; you may have to hunt them down a little. If you’re not in the mood to trawl endless stores, though, you can buy them on the Moon Pie website and get either a box or a case of them delivered (they’re way pricier on there, though).

As we mentioned above, though, you might have to move quickly. These are limited-edition, and they probably won’t stick around for too much longer before they’re taken off sale. Moon Pie has a habit of doing this with other classic flavors, too: Its elusive Blueberry flavor was recently sighted at Dollar Tree, but it was a bit of a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it affair.
