Oh sweet prince, we miss you so. We didn’t know what we had before it was lost. Dr Pepper Dark Berry may be gone but it’s certainly not forgotten. While we were a bit unimpressed with the flavor back in 2022, it has a cult following over on Reddit, so it’s worth a revisit.

A Favorite For Many

Many Redditors took to the comments on a recent post to sing the praises of Dr Pepper Dark Berry. In fact, many of them said it was not only their favorite Dr Pepper flavor, but favorite soda overall. That’s crazy! Especially considering our taste testers had a bit of a muted reaction to it.

Dr Pepper Dark Berry has a truly unexpected origin story. It was first launched to promote the movie Spider-Man: Far From Home. It seems this soda only comes out when it’s used to promote a movie because it also came back from the vault to push Jurassic World in 2022.

What’s It Taste Like?

Well, “Dark Berry,” as you would guess, is not a single fruit. The flavor itself is actually made up of a mix of black currant, blackberry, and black cherry. You know, all the dark fruits of the world. As for what it tastes like in Dr Pepper form, known Dr Pepper fanatic Jordan Myrick was reminded of a Blue Raspberry ICEE when they took a taste back in 2022. Sadly, this one was a bit of a stinker for us, only managing to capture only four out of ten sporks. But love it or hate it, there’s a reason we’re still talking about this flavor.

You’ll Always Have A Place In Our Heart

Oh Dr Pepper Dark Berry, you beautiful servant to capitalism. We’re hoping that another movie will come around soon that’ll warrant Dr Pepper releasing you from your restraints. That is, unless you live in Mexico. Then you can get it anytime! What the freaking heck, Dr Pepper! I guess we’ll take what we can get.

Some Redditors’ love for the soda, and I guess for each other, was so strong that they were offering to buy and ship it from Mexico to the States. What a beautiful thing to see. At the very least, you can keep an eye out for it on your next trip down to Mexico.
