- Crumbl Peach Ring Cookie

The sour sugar coating on the cookie itself needs to be stronger if it really wants to emulate a sour gummy, but there is a solid peach ring flavor throughout the whole cookie… for some reason. There is also, somehow, a gumminess to the frosting on this cookie. (I hope that’s intentional.) Overall, if you dig peach rings, this is probably as good as a peach ring-inspired cookie can get.
Is peach ring a soda now? There are some peach sodas out there in the world, but a Peach Nehi, this is not. I’d rather have a proper peaches & cream cookie than this artificial-on-purpose attempt at recreating a… dirty soda garnish? Is that what we’re going for here?

I’m really not sure what this is trying to accompish. Allegedly, this is made up of a chocolate cola cookie, chocolate cola and vanilla swirled mousse, a mini wafer straw, and a lemon slice.
Does that sound like any beverage (dirty or otherwise) you’ve ever had before? I like all these pieces, but I’m not sure they’re putting together a complete picture. The lemon especially feels out of place in this chocolate, vanilla, and cola concoction.
The soft, airy mousse is a pleasant alternative to Crumbl’s standard dense frosting, and the chocolate-cola-vanilla flavor swirl does deliver a unique combination. I enjoyed it, but I’m not sure I understand it.

- Crumbl Pink Berry Cookie

This week’s top two cookies both take advantage of the nationwide launch of Crumbl’s dirty sodas. It’s actually pretty smart on the brand’s part; desserts can now reliably feature any number of fresh fruits, since they’ll already be available in-store for use in their dirty soda recipes. This week’s lineup alone features lemon slices, lime slices, cherries, and strawberries.
Crumbl’s Pink Berry Cookie recipe features the latter, the third “is this really a soda?” cookie I’ll be covering today. While I don’t really taste the alleged citrus zest in the base cookie, there’s no doubt this buttercream is a vibrant swirl of lemon-lime and strawberry flavors. Strawberry Sprite isn’t a widely available soda, but it probably should be. (I miss Sprite Lymonade Legacy so much.) This could replace the classic almond-frosted as the pink option in the permanent weekly pantheon of cookies and I wouldn’t complain at all.

- Crumbl Shirley Temple Cookie

As Sporked’s resident soda person, this is the only Crumbl dessert this week to get my wholehearted thumbs up in terms of relevance to theme. This dense lime sugar cookie is rolled in grenadine sugar (what a wonderful phrase) before being topped with Shirley Temple-flavored buttercream and a real cherry. The end result is a rich, fruity, borderline syrupy cookie–exactly what a Shirley Temple should be. Like many of Crumbl’s desserts, you shouldn’t eat more than a fourth at a time if you don’t want to start bouncing off the ceiling; this one in particular makes it hard to stop.
