Listen, we’ve all been teenagers, and we’re all likely still plenty embarrassed about the stupid things we did before we hit 18 years old. (Frankly, I’m still embarrassed about a good portion of my 20s, too.) Trends make us do plenty of dumb stuff—but what you probably didn’t expect was that a grocery store would follow and try to capitalize on that dumb stuff.

That’s exactly what Aldi is doing right now. Aiming to maintain its status among the cool kids (or adults, since they’re the ones with grocery money), Aldi has released some “trendy” chicken nuggets. But they totally miss the mark. They’re not cool, just downright embarrassing.

Aldi’s Nuggets Are Trying—And Failing—To Capitalize On A Trend

Aldi’s latest frozen food find is chicken nuggets that aim to capitalize on the viral 6-7 trend, which first kicked off in December 2024 and went worldwide in 2025. That trend started to die out in early 2026, and by March, it was being declared officially dead.

Aldi missed the memo, though, because the budget-friendly grocery store literally just released a bag of 6-7 chicken nuggets. Like, within the last week. Approximately four-ish months after the trend wound down. Oh, and even cringier? Aldi has the nuggets priced at—you guessed it—$6.70.

And I’m not the only one who absolutely cringed when encountering these numerical nuggets in my local Aldi store. Reddit users agree, noting that this Aldi new addition is a bit late to the game and sarcastically calling it “a bold strategy.”

Ironically, as terribly ridiculous as these 6-7 nuggets are, they aren’t the first to hit grocery stores. Chicken giant Perdue released a limited-edition bag of them, too, back in April of this year. (In fact, I’m thinking Aldi’s version might just be the very same under a different name, though I will admit the 6-shaped nuggets look a bit different than Perdue’s.)

Maybe 2026 is the year of cringy chicken nuggets. Either way, both of these 6-7 products miss the mark on a trend that’s been over for some time now.

If You Want to Save Money, These Cringy Nuggets Might Be Worth Buying

Whether you’re an adult who’s despised the 6-7 trend since it first popped up (and are very tired of hearing about it) or someone who’s enjoyed its pop culture run, it’s pretty undeniable that it’s finished. The kids have moved on, even though Aldi hasn’t.

But there might be one perk to these absolutely outdated, incredibly cringy chicken nuggets. Because the 6-7 fad is no longer “in” with, well, anyone, you might be able to stock your freezer with them for less.

Yes, I know these odd numbered nuggets just appeared in Aldi stores. However, since they’re already too late to capitalize on the 6-7 hype, odds are parents of school-age kids, tweens, and teens won’t be rushing out to grab a bag. And if you already aren’t a fan of the 6-7 trend, you won’t exactly be clamoring for these frozen nuggets either. The result? Without an audience, these are doomed to sit in the freezer section.

Wait long enough, and those slow sales are likely to turn these chicken nuggets into a clearance-priced steal. I’m expecting to see these 6-7 nuggets marked down within a week or two—so keep your eyes peeled for them the next time you visit Aldi. Regardless of how cringy they might be, they’ll be nothing to scoff at once they’re even cheaper than their already-under-$7 price.

So, if you spot me at Aldi filling my cart with these ridiculous nuggets once they hit $4 or less, go ahead and judge me. My toddler doesn’t care what shape his frozen nuggets are in, as long as they’re crispy!
