Costco’s croissants are too good of a deal to pass up for even the smartest of shoppers out there. You’re telling me I can get a dozen croissants for the price of one at a local bakery? Yes, please. The story takes a turn for the worst when you get home though. You’re left with the reality of your decision―you have to figure out how to get through 12 croissants before they go bad. Don’t worry, you can freeze them! If you know how to do it the right way, that is.

There’s A Right Way?

There is in my book! To start things off, it’s going to seem a little counterproductive. You first want to freeze them uncovered for about 20 minutes or so. That’ll give them time to firm up to keep their shape. Those soft, flaky little suckers would crumble under pressure of packing if we don’t do that first.

Wrap Them Up

Next you’ll want to tightly wrap each one individually in plastic wrap. That also gives the added benefit of being able to sneak just one lone croissant out of the freezer instead of having to commit to the whole shebang. Give them an added layer against freezer burn by placing the individually wrapped croissants into an airtight container or a freezable bag.

Don’t Forget a Label!

Because I’m sure this won’t be the first or last time that this same problem happens to us, it’s best to label your batch of croissants with the date that you stashed them away. You’ll generally want to finish them off within three months of putting them into the freezer for best results. Make sure you’re rotating your stock accordingly.

How Should I Heat Them Back Up?

Now that the time has come to dig into your stash, you want to bring them back to life properly. This unfortunately takes a little thinking ahead. Pull your croissants out of the freezer and place them in the fridge overnight to bring them back up to a workable temp. Then you’ll want to give them a little time in the oven to crisp them back up. A few minutes at 300 degrees Fahrenheit should do the trick or a visit in the air fryer will work wonders too.

Actually, most of Costco’s bakery section lends itself nicely to being frozen. Realistically, you can also freeze any of their loafs, muffins, bagels, even extra slices of cake! Bless the freezer for helping us single people shop at Costco a little bit easier.
