There are sandwiches that need a little extra sauce. There are sandwiches that could use an extra slice of cheese. And then there is KFC Japan’s sandwich, which makes use of not one, not two, but three eggs. So you have a towering burger with three egg-style omelets, a crispy Japanese-style chicken cutlet, and so much tartar sauce that it has earned the name “Kobore Tartar,” which basically means the sauce is overflowing.

It is part of KFC Japan’s annual Tsukimi menu, and this year, the chain has taken the egg theme very seriously.
Burger With Three Eggs
The main attraction in KFC Japan’s annual Tsukimi menu is the Torori Triple Tsukimi Wafu Katsu Burger Kobore Tartar, which costs 990 yen.
The sandwich starts with a Japanese-style chicken cutlet, then three egg-style omelets are stacked right on top of the chicken. The eggs are made with a rich yolk sauce, giving them a soft, creamy texture. KFC then adds its tartar sauce, which is meant to spill out around the edges of the burger.
So there is crispy chicken, three layers of egg, and a pile of tartar sauce squeezed between a bun. It’s not exactly a sandwich built for a neat lunch break, but I bet it’s delicious.
The Torori Triple Tsukimi Wafu Katsu Burger Kobore Tartar costs 990 yen, or around $6.21. It hit KFC Japan locations across the country on August 26th and will stick around only while supplies last.
There is also a regular version called the Torori Tsukimi Wafu Katsu Burger Kobore Tartar for 640 yen. That one keeps the chicken, egg, and overflowing tartar sauce but skips the two extra omelets. For anyone who thinks three eggs might be getting a little ambitious, there is at least a more reasonable option.
Why Is KFC Japan Putting Eggs On Everything?
The eggs are not random. The burgers are part of KFC Japan’s Tsukimi menu, which is tied to the Japanese tradition of moon viewing. Tsukimi literally refers to admiring the moon, particularly around the fall season. Food companies in Japan have turned that tradition into a major seasonal menu moment, with eggs often used because a round egg can look like a full moon.
KFC Japan has been making Tsukimi burgers for years. This year’s menu simply takes the idea much further.
KFC Japan says it has given the 2026 menu a bigger egg focus, including more yolk sauce in its egg-style omelets. It also increased the amount of tartar sauce on the new Torori Tsukimi Katsu Burger.
There Are More Eggs Where That Came From
The triple burger is the biggest attention-grabber, but it is not the only egg-heavy item on the menu.
The Torori Tsukimi Filet Burger costs 590 yen and comes with the egg-style omelet and rich yolk sauce. The Torori Tsukimi Twister costs 490 yen and adds teriyaki sauce and mayonnaise to the mix.
There is also the regular Torori Tsukimi Japanese-style Pork Cutlet Burger with Overflowing Tartar Sauce for 640 yen.
Yes, There Is Also A Tsukimi Pie
KFC Japan is also bringing back its Omochi to Noko Custard no Tsukimi Pie, a crispy pastry filled with chewy mochi and rich vanilla custard.
The 2026 version gets 20% more custard than last year’s pie. The custard is made with Madagascar vanilla beans, so this part of the menu is going for a much sweeter kind of indulgence. It costs 320 yen, or 450 yen for two.
The whole Tsukimi lineup arrived August 26th as a limited-time release, with sales ending when supplies run out.
