Pizza night just got a little faster thanks to Red Baron.

The brand just launched CRUNCHTIME, a 10-inch frozen pizza that goes from the freezer to the table in five minutes in the microwave. And unlike the tiny single-serve pizzas usually associated with microwave cooking, this one is designed to feed more than one person.

So yes, you can effectively microwave an entire pizza now.

This Is Not A Tiny Microwave Pizza

CRUNCHTIME is designed to solve one of the main problems with microwave pizza: the crust.

Microwaving a frozen pizza is fast, but the trade-off is usually a crust that’s softer than crispy. Red Baron is trying to get around that with CRUNCHTIME, which is specifically designed to deliver a crispy bite while still cooking in the microwave.

It’s also a 10-inch pizza, rather than one of those small personal pizzas you eat directly from the cardboard because you’ve already accepted that this is your dinner.

CRUNCHTIME is meant to serve multiple people, which makes the five-minute cooking time a little more useful. You can have an actual pizza ready without turning on the oven or waiting for it to preheat.

There Are Three Varieties

CRUNCHTIME is launching in three flavors: Pepperoni, Meat Trio, and Four Cheese.

The Pepperoni is the obvious classic, while Meat Trio is for anyone who thinks one type of meat on a pizza is leaving something on the table. Four Cheese, meanwhile, keeps things simple with the combination that has managed to make cheese-on-bread one of the world’s most reliable meals.

All three are available now.

Red Baron Wants Pizza To Be Faster

The timing of CRUNCHTIME isn’t too surprising. Red Baron says research from Circana found that half of meals are prepared or cooked in under 15 minutes.

Five-minute pizza fits pretty neatly into that.

It’s also a different approach to the microwave pizza category. Instead of making a smaller pizza that one person can eat quickly, Red Baron is trying to make a full-size pizza that can be shared and still have the texture people expect from a frozen pizza.

Whether the microwave can actually deliver on the crispy-crust promise is the part I’ll be most interested in.

Because if someone has finally figured out how to make a microwave pizza that’s actually crispy, we may have just entered a new era.

You Can Have Pizza In Five Minutes

CRUNCHTIME is available now in the U.S. in Pepperoni, Meat Trio, and Four Cheese varieties, with a retail price of about $5.99.

That’s five minutes from frozen pizza to dinner, which is about as close as we’re getting to having someone magically appear in the kitchen and make us food.

And at least this version is supposed to be big enough to share.

Whether you actually share it is between you and your conscience.
