Finding the best Red Baron pizza takes commitment to the cause. What I’m saying is, there’s a lot of Red Baron frozen pizza at the grocery store—various crusts, various toppings combos, various sizes, from pizzas that can feed a party of many to pizzas that can feed a party of one.
We recently preheated our oven to a toasty 400 degrees and cooked up roughly a dozen Red Baron frozen pizzas, and then tasted them head to head to find the best tasting ones of the bunch. The TLDR here is: Their sausage isn’t very good, so avoid it when you can. Also, in general, their personal sized pizzas were our favorites. There are some good options if you’re feeding a family, but there are some bad ones, too. Let us help!

- Red Baron French Bread Singles Pepperoni

In our on-camera taste test we tried the 3 Meat French Bread Pizzas and, frankly, three meats were too many meats, especially given that the sausage morsels on Red Baron pizzas are a little gamey. Not great. But, in general, we are big fans of Red Baron frozen pizza in the French bread format. When I did a taste test of French bread pizzas a few years ago, I was stunned to discover that Stouffer’s doesn’t make the best French bread pizzas, Red Baron does. Big upset! The bread is soft inside and nice and crispy-crunchy outside. The cheese is plentiful. Stick with the Pepperoni or the 5 Cheese & Garlic, and you’ll be good.

- Red Baron Fully Loaded Hand Tossed Ultimate Pepperoni Pizza

This is the best Red Baron pizza for people who don’t just require lots of pepperoni, they require lots of pepperoni in a variety of shapes. This pie is topped with triangular slices of pepperoni and cubes of pepperoni. It’s salty and slutty and good. We liked this crust concept, too. It’s puffy in that classic frozen pizza sort of way, but there’s a coating of corn meal on the bottom that makes it a little more like a “hand-tossed” pie from certain pizza places. This Red Baron frozen pizza also comes sprinkled with what appears to be a mixture of parmesan cheese and Italian herbs like oregano, which also makes it a little nicer than some of their other offerings.

- Red Baron Brick Oven Cheese Trio Pizza

We tried a couple of Red Baron’s brick oven crusts, and the cheese pizza was the best of them. It has a seasoned crust, which helps a lot. It’s like it’s been slathered with garlic butter. It has a very classic frozen cheese pizza flavor and a nice tasting sauce. This is the best Red Baron pizza if you’re in the mood for a very classic frozen cheese pizza with just a little extra oomph.

- Red Baron Classic Crust Pepperoni Pizza

If you’re ever standing in the frozen aisle staring at 500 pizzas and experiencing decision paralysis, Red Baron Classic Crust Pepperoni pizza is a safe bet, especially if you like it thin and couldn’t decide between this and Red Baron Thin & Crispy Crust. There’s a lot of cheese and a lot of pepperoni. The crust is soft and has a pastry-esque quality. It’s soft in the middle, but gets pretty crispy on the bottom. The pepperoni tastes nice, too. I really think when you are buying Red Baron frozen pizza you should stick to either cheese or pep.

Yup, these teeny-tiny little individual pizzas, which come two in a pack and cost less than five bucks (at least for now) are the best Red Baron pizzas. The cheese genuinely tastes better than the cheese on other Red Baron frozen pizzas. And somehow the tomato sauce tastes better, too. I swear, it tastes like it has parmesan cheese or cream in it. My colleague Justine and I said “vodka sauce” at exactly the same time when we tasted it. It’s all very savory and tasty. They make a version that comes with toppings, too, but I say buy the plain cheese and dress it up yourself—mushrooms and onions for me, plz.
