Tombstone Is Selling Frozen Candy Corn Pizza

Halloween and frozen pizza don’t seem to have a ton in common. Savory foods in general don’t tend to come to mind when we think of Halloween―unless, that is, you’re thinking of those random, but eventually helpful, bags of pretzels given out to trick-or-treaters (you’ll realize what a gift they are when you’re like, eight fun-size Snickers into the night).

But even if savory food and frozen pizza don’t make you go “Boo!,” the name Tombstone―as in Tombstone frozen pizza―should. Not only because Tombstone pizza is actually named after a cemetery, but also because apparently the brand isn’t afraid of digging into the macabre of it all: this Halloween season, they’re treating (and tricking) us with three online-exclusive drops of Tombstone Candy Corn Pizza. Yes, you read that right.

It Comes In Creepy Kits…

Confused though we might be, Tombstone has declared itself the Official Pizza of Halloween, so the fact that they’re doing something this culinarily ghoulish is actually on point. To calm your fears, yes, it’s an almost monstrous mash-up, and yes, it 100% involves savory frozen pizza (with the sauce and the dough and the melted cheese) and the application of candy corn (which isn’t everyone’s favorite on its own to begin with―though some of us do love it). Actually what’s almost more monstrous: it’s not a finished, pizza, but a kit. They make you do the nightmarish (but probably fun) work of sprinkling candy corn on your frozen pizza. 

The kit box (which is ghoulishly jet black) actually has a funny explanation, something about how the words “hear me out” usually precede a bad idea, but the good folks at Tombstone listened―which suggests (to us, anyway) this might be a response to fan requests? No matter whose idea it was, it comes in two freakish flavors: Candy Corn Pizza Pepperoni and Candy Corn Pizza 5 Cheese. Both kits come with three packets of candy corn, so it really is your choice if and where (and how much) you sprinkle.

Three Spookily Specific Dates…

In keeping with the fun of the season, and the maybe-slightly-madcap vibe of the recipe, Tombstone isn’t just dropping a bunch of these off in the frozen section or even making them widely available online. You’ll actually have to hunt for these like ghosts. Okay, online ghosts, because Tombstone plans to put the kits up for sale online at 2PM EST on three particular dates: October 2nd, October 9th, and October 23rd. 

You’ll need a password―which we assume will be hinted at via Tombstone social media―but beyond that, just a curious palate and thirty-one cents. Because each kit costs only $0.31, in honor of Halloween, or just as a hug to our bruised and broken wallets. And while most of this confuses us, we’re intrigued about which pizza might taste better.
